I just picked up a Ute Flatbed and have it 99% installed, but I have some questions about the tail light wiring. The flatbed came off a 1st gen tundra and the guy had just had his plugged directly into the tail lights on the flatbed, but there is only one plug, and the Tacoma has three. So is there an adapter or harness that would work for this application, or do i have to splice the taillight wiring?

I would also be interested in some horizontal tail lights that would be plug-and-play with the current Tacoma wiring, I am just not sure if they exist.

Photos are of my Tacoma's three wires, the flatbed's one wire, the flatbed tail light, and the flatbed installed with my crappy temporary solution using the stock tail lights.

    Thanks in advance!

You could de-pin the vehicle side (x3) harness and insert into the mating connector.
Or purchase parts and assemble a mating harness.
Take a real close look at the Tundra connector, find the part number.

That is a very interesting use of the OEM taillights :rofl:I can make you an adapter.
    Do these taillights:
    Have this plug?
I am not sure of any plug and play taillights for it, but if you find a set of horizontal tails you like, I am sure we can make them plug and play.

Ok great, thanks for the help I’d definitely be interested in an adapter,
Yes that’s correct those taillights have that plug

Haha yes it’s not ideal but needed to get back on the road and so far has worked.

Just wanted to update y’all, thanks for the info and help but I just had to wire everything up myself and got it to work. The roads in anchorage this past week broke the brackets on the stock taillights and they fell off lol

Yes it was not a super fun month or so, but got that replaced a few days ago before it gets really cold!
