“Somewhere” I have some I picked up off of somebody’s busted taillight on here. Haven’t been able to find them. The parts diagram shows it as an assembly, so you are either going to have to play nice with the parts counter, or find it somewhere else.

Fastenal, McMaster-Carr, or any other place that sells various hardware should have them. They’re called J-nuts.

Yea, I’ve heard them called “speed nuts” an “U-Nuts”, but no idea on the dimensions. Sometimes there are special design features to hold in place or enhance the fastening characteristics.

Here are some photos to help... there are two (top/bottom):

Just an example. I don't know anything about the bolt/screw you removed from the original, and I don't think
the one I linked would open far enough to slip over the plastic. If you search for 'u nut' you'll see a bunch of them.

I think you would need to get the dimensions and hole/thread from the original. It has to match the bolts used (unless you are replacing those as well). Sorry, I don't have those dimensions off hand. I'll see if they are in the diagram.

EDIT: Damn you Toyota! For being so generic on your descriptions... no useful info... "Bolt w/Washer" I could find no other descriptive info.

    Thanks for the help, guys.

unfortunately, my truck is in a container on the way to the middle east. I wont be able to check the dimensions of that part, so if anyone would be willing to check for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

ok, I know I have two spare if I find them. I'll look into matching info or finding them when I get back after the weekend.

Ok, still haven’t found my stash, but stopped at Toyota... nothing in the fasteners bin matched. I went to Home Depot and Lowes... neither had metric versions, but I did determine they are M6 and the gap is 5mm. I was then able to find a Doorman kit (961-315, “Extruded ‘U’ Nuts Assortment”) that has 2xM6 & 2xM8 in it. This was at Pep Boys, but I assume you can find at others as well as Amazon/eBay.

Hope that helps everyone find what they need...

Referenced this earlier - was able to find these parts at local Ace Hardware and they are close enough to OEM geometry to be a direct replacement. There’s a retaining tab on the new one which Toyota didn’t pay for on the OE part, some I could press on with just my thumb, a couple required a light tap.

Clip but is categorized as ‘metric U nut’ and the flanged M6-1.0x16 is under ‘license plate bolts’ and shown as an Acura part.

Less than $7 to replace all 4.
