I drive all over daily for work. Wanted to start a thread for best Bay Area taquerias, my favorite lunch stop... Ordered from top down

    1. @Cali007 place. Santa Rosa. Never been personally, but many taqueria afficiandos proclaim excellence...wheeled with him, would def eat his burrito first...

    2. Taqueria Las Chiquitas. 1798 Broadway, Redwood City. Carnitas is fuckin AMAZING. Crunchy outside, juicy inside. Also Dorado burrito. Shrimp wrapped in steak. If it’s available, GET IT!!

    3. Taqueria El Metate. 120 Harbor Rd, Belmont. Gives a nice toast to burrito tortilla. Flautas are insanely good. Micheladas for days...

    3. El Caballo Wraps, 1108 Lincoln Ave, Alameda. Fresh and delicious, no going wrong. Carne asada fries/California burrito are the truth...

    4. El Caminito Mexican Restaurant, 1175 Catalina, Livermore. Ate there today first time. Best damn chorizo I’ve ever had.

    5. Taqueria Los Comales, 2105 MacArthur, Oakland. Get the burrito mojado. Trust me!!

Tell me why you like your favorite taqueria... I could eat Mexican every day... Need better spots in South Bay...

Scorpion Bay Cantina and Campground in San Juanico has some pretty good tacos. It's a bit south though.

Every now and then I like to take a few months and eat one kind of food. I haven't done it in a while. I few years ago I ate nothing but Korean everytime I ate out for 3 months.
Maybe Tacos would be a good focus food type.

    I fucking love this thread!!

Really? Picante is just okay in my book but to be fair I haven't had their fish tacos or torta.

    Here's my list to date:

    Marin
My go to is Taqueria San Jose, under the freeway on 4th st in San Rafael. Grilled chicken or al pastor. Don't get the shredded chicken, it sucks. Super burrito no rice (always skip the rice... you end up with more meat!), tacos, or surprisingly the taco salad is bomb. Which it should be because it's basically an open-faced fried burrito.

Los Moles in San Rafael is pretty good (but way too expensive) for Mole. They also have an all you can eat Taco Tuesday deal.

The best baja style fish tacos I've found in Marin are at Salsalito in Sausalito.

    Skip everything in Mill Valley

Mi Pueblo in San Anselmo is also good (the orange salsa is amazing). Their chile relleno burrito is really good. The place next door has good margaritas but I think the food there is meh. Haven't found good Mexican food in Fairfax yet but I am usually going for other types of food when I'm over there.

    Sonoma County

I think Lepe's fried fish tacos in Santa Rosa are pretty decent and they have Pacifico on tap. Good spot for a post-Annadel MTB rip. Taqueria Santa Rosa is also really good for burritos and tacos. Their al pastor is some of my favorite.

The Mi Pueblo in Petaluma is pretty good, especially for margaritas.

For a mole fix - El Farolito in Windsor is good. I really like their chips too.

    Penninsula

Seconding the super quesodillas at Chavez markets along the Penninsula. Unfortunately I haven't explored much else that way.

    SF

El Farolito in the Mission is my favorite SF spot for a true Mission-style burrito.

I like everything about this thread.

El Buen Sabor on Velencia in the mission. Favorite crispy taco.

Bro, you did not even mention anything about Oakland.
Taco Sinaloa for the tacos, and Guadalajara for everything else.

Grewal Food & Liquor On 10th st in downtown San Jose. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there, but there is a window in the corner that has awesome Mexican food.

Been a super busy weekend, thanks for all the suggestions! In the next day or two I’ll organize the suggestions geographically. I guess it’s time to be one of those asshats always taking pics of food...

Today’s lunch a la @jAndyMendo ... Sunnyvale Super Quesadilla. Wasn’t expecting burrito style, but hey, it was pretty good. Not good enough to crack my top 5 though...
