I use mine to transport tools, I have a Uws bed box. Other than a bed rack, I can't imagine there are many other thing you could do.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Getting beefier rear springs is the best place to start, the stock ones can't even hold up to 400lbs.

I Guess it really depends on what your going to do to it and for how long..... there are a LOT of old american trucks for sale on line that you can beat the hell out of for a few years and then sell again for what you would spend on really getting down to work and adding some beef to the back end putting a full size rack and some solid tool boxes on....
These are not full size trucks....
with that being said I have had great luck beating and abusing both first and second gen tundras as work trucks but the v 8 makes all of the diffenerce in the world
    good luck

Well, i put new leaf packs on and am looking for a tool box now. I pulled a trailer the other day with only about 20 head in it and pulled it just fine. I think ill just keep the toy and eventually upgrade to a tundra after college.

I have a 2010 for my work truck, has a backrack, cross box and side boxes, all the boxes are full of tools, and i carry a lot of pipe and other material and it does fine, Ive pulled generators and compressors with it and it does fine. My personal truck it a 07 tacoma with a cross box and i have pulled a 18ft car trailer with my 91 toyota crawler on it and it towed it fine! I do have an add a leaf and a weight distribution hitch for that..
