How fucking stupid and immature do you have to be to smash your own vehicle up over road rage?

I don't understand people. People are dumb.

Saw a video last night. It was police body cam of an arrest in the Florida Keys.
Short story... Man exits grocery store. Man sees Tacoma with a sticker he disagrees with. Man gets upset and key's Tacoma. Video camera catches everything. Police go to man's house and arrest him - all very smooth and professional w/o incident. Guy waived his rights to remain silent (every day is STFU Friday at our house but that's us) and confessed. But he and his wife were shocked when it was a FELONY because of the cost to repaint a truck. Said that if he thought it was a felony, he wouldn't have let it get to him so much. Here he is, 62 years old, now has a felony on his record. That impacts your ability to get jobs (probably not an issue at 62 with a second home in the keys), vote, own firearms, get on an airplane, and a bunch of other things.

I think a lot of people FA and then during the FO phase realize they are in deeper than expected. Not thinking about what this means when they do something stupid.

People are dumb. I was once assisting another adjuster on a lane change accident claim. The claimant was super abusive and upset. Said they had dash camera that proved their case against our insured. Claimant sends their dash camera in. I review it. Insured legally changed lanes well ahead of claimant turn signal on plenty of room in slow traffic like 2-3 car length gap. The dash cam had audio you can hear claimant flip out then see claimant start to chase our insured. Claimant then yells at insured about how they put her babies safety in danger. Yes the great irony here is the claimants own actions were 100x more dangerous than anything our insured did.

Anyway insured stays cool and moves forward in the left lane away from claimant but claimant keeps going and goes into insureds lane hits our insured(as oncoming traffic prevented them from going further left)

The funniest part about all of this is the claimant said it was all our insureds fault and honestly believed that this video was supportive. I'm actually shocked they provided it thinking it would help

Your story reminds me of calling references people give for jobs. I've hired more people than I can remember and I hate calling references because it's mostly a colossal waste of time. References are just names of people that like you right? Every once in a while I call a reference and get an earful about how bad the applicant was at their job. That never goes well for the applicant.

    I drive a Miata.
I was zipping through traffic last week, and moved into the left lane in front of a slower car. Nobody got cut off, I didn't mess up anybody's flow, but the slower car sure took offense like I just shaved paint off her bumper.

Naturally she punched it to catch up and scream at me. I looked at her quizzically, laughed, shrugged, and kept trucking. That pissed her off even more, so the next move was to serve into my rear fender like she wanted to run me off the road. She had a kid in the back seat, imagine watching your mom throw a screaming red faced tantrum.

Again, I smiled, waved, downshifted, and dusted it into the distance. People are unstable as hell.

Klingon Proverb: "Revenge is a dish best served cold". Probably saves on the "witness allows successful felony prosecution" issue. Also gives time for your friends and family to kick you in the nuts to convince you of the wisdom of doing nothing.

But seriously ... the slow person searching for 10 minutes to find enough pennies to pay at the counter is not worth involving authorities. Physical danger because you have lost it and are not thinking straight is decidedly not worth it. Let the dashcam inform the authorities.

I don't think its that people are more stupid "these days" just that there are cameras everywhere.

Also, used to be the village idiots range of influence only went to to the nearest neighbor. Now they broadcast worldwide and all the other mental midgets get to pile on to their unfortunate opinions

I saw that video too, the real kicker was his wife was heading off to the airport, and him being arrested in front of her was priceless. He'll never hear the end of it

    Oh boy...

I understand that some people's behavior while driving can get up to your nerves. Driving in a big city does that to me. And I felt like it got worse these past few years.

But, why smash up your vehicle for this? Is it really worth it?

She handled it amazingly well for a bit but at the end of the vid started to get a little shaky and gave him a look that let you know this marriage might be over. He's going to have a heavy sentence one way or another.

This is just nuts, I have found that living in the DFW metroplex instead of giving someone the bird while driving just give them a thumbs down and blow a raspberry at them. It makes them 10 times angrier than the finger.
