I have a $500 refundable deposit down on a '22 Tacoma, green, manual tranny TRD that is expected to be in the end of July. I sat in one a year ago but don't remember the details so I'm headed over to the dealer to check out the seating next week. I drive a lot for sales and I'm moving on from my '16 Chevrolet Silverado.

I just happened to spend a week in the passenger side of a rental 4Runner up der in Minne-sota and it was a really comfortable truck to ride in 7-8 hours a day.

Not knowing all these Toyota vehicle families how does the Tacoma compare to the 4Runner in the seat department?

I better make sure I test fit one then but in general I'm not scared of smaller vehicles.

Tacoma if you need or want to haul stuff you would not put on a back seat of a vehicle that cost ~ $50K.

There’s less legroom and the seat is closer to the floor in the Taco, the seating position is more car like than a 4Runner.

if you’re a big guy, the 4Runner will be more comfortable.

I’m a 6’3” 270# fatass and fit in the SR Taco.

I have to think the presence of a bed matters more than the purchase price?

Wrecking back seat of 35k truck = fine, wrecking back seat of 50k SUV = hol up. Where'd you get that one?

I’ve had junkers where I didn’t care. Oh to live in a universe where $35k was my minimum valued vehicle.

What's the cost point where transporting a dead cow in the back seat goes from "No" to "Aight"?

    $500? $1000? $5000?

Get the Tundra, if the Silverado could get you everywhere you needed to go. Every body loves the Tacoma and 4Runner for road trips, but if you are working out of your vehicle on a daily basis you might enjoy the interior space that you are use to.

I've owned/leased a 2017 trd or tacoma, 2017 sr5 4runner, and 2020 trd or 4runner. Take the 4Runner, but at least the TRD OR trim level. It rides so much better than the SR5 4runners and has tons more room for people and cargo over the Tacoma. Downside is gas mileage is significantly worse than the Tacoma, but it's still a better vehicle over all.

I must've been confusing with my main question.

It's going to be a 2022 Tacoma or I go back to a stripper Silverado or F150. The 4Runner and Tundra are great vehicles but they are not an option due to price ($50,000+).

I burn a lot of miles and need to keep costs low. I need max out at $40,000 which I can do with the trucks above.

Then stick with the Tacoma. Better fuel economy and resale value.

Tacoma is also fun to drive. Easy to park and decent on gas . The best part is down the road when you go to sell it you will get a stupid great price for it.

If you don’t need a truck bed, the 4runner is a superior vehicle. I’ve owned both and this is my opinion
