I am currently towing a 20 ft toyhauler with my 2014 Tacoma. I want to sell/trade my toyhauler for a Lance 1985 (over the 1685 that is 250 lbs less weight) rated at just over 4000 lbs dry. I figure 4400 with full fresh water tank. I travel light and remove unused appliances (pulled microwave out of toyhauler as never use it boondocking) and feel I would not exceed 5400 lbs towing the 1985. The Tacoma tow rating is 6400. My concern is the Lance is 1985 is 3+ feet longer than my current toyhauler. Is this a towing issue I should be concerned with? That is, I am well within the tow weight, but will the added 3 ft be an issue that I am missing (the toyhauler is my first rv/towing experience). I read an earlier thread from 2012 by KenaiKingFisher that was going with this same setup with a 2012 Tacoma and Lance 1985 on a trip to Fairbanks, AK. I am hoping that he will respond his experience.

Pretty vague response. My interpretation: igno1tus drove 07 Tacoma to Kenai, AK from Lehigh Valley area, PA using 19 tanks of fuel and averaged 18.5 MPG, and without towing. Is that correct?

No, he used tacomaworld's tag feature that sends a notification to the user that was tagged. Typing @"screen name" will do that for you. Basically just let @kenaiking know you're interested in his experience rather than waiting and hoping he'll just see the thread.

Good to know for future reference. Thanks igno1tus for forwarding, but the thread I read from 2012(?) listed KenaiKingFisher, unless name was changed shouldn't it be @KenaiKingFisher ?

Hmm well as you type the @ it will fill in a list of people with that name and I used @kenaiking because that's what comes up as a member here, not what you have listed , so maybe they changed their name ? Dropped the Fisher part

When you start typing @(the persons name) do you see a box pop up that shows screen names ?

I think they may have changed their name , I could be totally wrong

I am curious if you were able to get any response on your question? I mean, on paper it looks like what you are asking will work and the dry hitch weight of the 1985 is well below the 650lbs stated on Tacoma.
I myself am interested in the Lance, but it is the 2185 which has below specs. Big issue with below, hitch weight is way above 650 lbs allowed to Tacoma. We went and looked/test drove at a Tundra and ...ugh. So it maybe a 1985 for us as well:

    • Floor Length 21' 2"
    • Overall Length 25'8"
    • Exterior Width 96-3/4"
    • Exterior Height 122"
    • Interior Height 78"
    • Sleeping Capacity 7
    • Gross Dry Weight 4380 Lbs.
    • Hitch Dry Weight 730 Lbs.
    • Axle Weight 3650 Lbs.
    • Cargo Carrying Capacity 1620 Lbs.
    • GVWR 6000 Lbs.
    • Tire Size ST205/75R14
    Ah, saw this thread:
