Tacoma shaking at 70+ MPH

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport. I noticed at highway speeds of 75-80 (never really go faster than that) I get a lot of vibration (left to right feeling) in the seats and inside the cabin. It is not in the steering wheel. The passenger seat shakes like crazy in a left to right motion. The vibration could be felt slighting through the floor board. It feels like the seat has a massage machine attached to it. I keep taking it to the dealership and they said they can't find anything. I thought maybe it was the drive shaft.

Thank you, I appreciate any feed back.

****Should have noted earlier, but I did replace the tires and brakes just last week. Still having the issue.

    I have a 19 TRDOR w/Kings and billet UCA’s on 33s and it’s planted at 85 mph…something is off? Alignment? Tire balance?

The dealership will not drive your truck that fast. You will need to take the tech with you.
Could be a result of the carrier bearing or drive shaft though.
My passenger seat rattles and the driver seat has a little play front to back on the top portion of the seat. I took mine in for it and got told it was a normal characteristic of the truck.
From what I have read in here, is to remove the factory seat fabric/leather and tighten up the bolts/screws on the seat frame itself.

    Did this just start?
How long have you had the truck?
How many miles on the truck?

Start with the tires & wheels first: How many miles on the tires, give them a good visual inspection for unusual wear. Sometimes it is mud packed inside the wheel or the wheel will have obvious damage from a pothole or curb, again a visual inspection/washing.

If nothing is found have a good tire shop balance the tires. I stress good, generally independent shops are better then chains, ask around or look for a place that services higher end cars. Tell them you have a vibration and they will inspect the wheels at the same time.

If nothing is found/no change observed you can remove the drive shaft and have it balanced at a drive shaft shop if needed, I had one done years ago and it wasn't very expensive when I brought in the shaft, (no labor).

Please let us know what you find.

Hello! I should have mentioned this but I did replace the tires and the brakes just a week ago. Problem is still there.

Have you tried it? Did it fix the problem?

Usually shake in floor/seats problem in drive train/rear. Shake in wheel is front end steering and suspension. If you let go wheel and it shakes also the problem is upfront. My truck passenger seat shook like a martini shaker. I took out a spacer lift, put in full a full Dobinsons and had every rim/tire rebalanced by an off-road guy who knew his shit.

Smooth as silk now. Cannot tell u if it was spacer or wheels but it’s gone. I would roadforce balance tires and check shocks for leaks first

No, I have not taken my seats apart. I do have the carrier bearing spacer, the seat still shakes but not as bad.
My truck is kind of modified/ lifted 4 inches
It's a 17 sr5 2wd on 33's with maxtrac spindles, icon 2.5 in the front and bilstein rc100 in the rear with a add a leaf and a 1 inch block. The truck has seen some dirt abuse :anonymous:
I stopped trying to track down every rattle and vibration long ago:burp:

OP get the brakes checked out again. I had the same issue on my jeep and thought I had the death wobbles. Had the tires rotated and new brakes installed recently. The caliper in one of the brakes was not disengaging.

My vote is to check your wheel balancing weights. Those puppies can pop off pretty easily and make a wheel jump around during rotation.

Smart money is on a rear wheel out of balance. If you replaced the tires a week ago and now you have a chassis vibe, but not in the steering wheel...get your rears rebalanced.

Honestly, that's what I think of when I am trying to describe how it feels. They replaced the entire pod and rotor though. It doesn't do it when I brake though

    Work in progress...
Sounds like a wheel, or three, out of balance.

I have had my original tires rotated, balanced and still having an issue. I got the new tires and they are having the same issue. Thought for sure it was the tires.

    Stock-ish
Mine did this brand new and bone stock. Normal quality toyota stuff, got rid of almost all the oem stuff and its as smooth as can be. Usually keep a couple napkins wedged between the console and the passenger seat so it doesnt flop as much

Every Tacoma I’ve ever owned does this. I’ve never been able to get one to stop even with roadforce balancing.

Not violent, but definitely uncomfortable. The passenger seat audibly shakes at certain speeds and it’s visible above 50.

LOL, there is almost nothing stock on your truck Kevin!

Mine has had an annoying vibe between 70-80 MPH with the factory tires and my Toyo AT3s. Had them RF balanced multiple times. Put an OME carrier bearing drop kit in and that help reduce the vibe but it is still there. I suspect driveline angle. I have some 2* shims to put in the rear just haven’t had a chance to do so. Was going to take to a driveline shop just so I stop wasting time and money figuring it out.

Wheels are always a good place to start. If any newer work has been done, go back and retorque everything. I have a 2016 now and the U joints are fine so I image your 2019's are too?
Keep them greased. Crawl under the truck and grab the driveshaft with both hands and shake it as hard as you can. If there's any movement you could have bad U joints or mount. My 2001 tacoma vibrated like a mofo when the driveshaft mount wore out.
With the lift did you put a driveshaft spacer in? You might be getting added stress at higher speeds.
    Just something else to check.
    Good luck
