Frontier sales are up 15% to 20k units for the qtr … so about 6,700 units a month … everyone up but Tacoma

I felt this same way back in 2016 with Gen 3 launch. I waited for several years listening to all the complaints so I continued to drive my old gen2 sport. I did manage to look at 3 brand new Tacomas and although looking nice was put off by nearly 50,000 dollar MSRP.

I still have yet to think of a reason or practical purpose to buy a truck with a bed under 6'. You could have bought an SUV or crossover and at least had A/C for an extra 5 feet.

The ac can’t even cool the cab. Adding 5 extra feet to it is just foolish. I actually prefer the truck bed to an actual trunk. I can carry take out etc without smelling up the entire interior, and you have the versatility to carry dirty/large/bulky items. Quite great

When you can buy a Tundra for a few thousand more than a 4th with all this extra non needed bs, no wonder sales are falling.

To be fair, yea, but the tundra will be a lower trim level, so you get the engine and bones, but not the features.

Toyota got too proud of themselves with the new Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia. Toyota makes and sells some really great and fairly priced models in other countries but it just won't happen here in the USA.

Also Toyota is getting pretty greedy profiting off Mexican labor to sell the Tacoma here at inflated pricing. They are no different than any other American company making goods in Mexico and selling all of it in the USA.

Also Japanese companies is moving a lot of production to Vietnam, Thailand, etc. I don't really understand how companies can expect to shift most, if not all of the jobs overseas, yet expect folks in USA, Japan, etc to still be able to buy the stuff.

it also hasn’t been redesigned into a steaming pile of garbage or priced into oblivion like most Toyotas redesigned 2020MY+

Um...because people like the looks of a truck, even if they're not hauling stuff or doing "truck stuff" with it? Like what YOU drive; drive what YOU like.

When you can pick up a Canyon AT4 with 310hp/430tq, locker and power seats for the same price they're asking for a no option SR5, or a Ranger Raptor for $8k less than a TRD Pro... :jpow: I'm seeing a number of sales taken away from Toyota this year.

Stellantis did MSRP reductions on the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Gladiator... Toyota needs to do the same to Tacoma if they want to stay competitive with GM/Ford's offerings.

Wife has a 23 RAV4. Wouldn’t have bought it if it’s had the issues I’ve seen on most Toyotas redesigned past 2020.

I'm not sure horsepower and torque are such primary triggers for a purchase.

A whole lot of data supports why Toyota can have the higher pricing. The crash test results, range of model options, cab plus bed configurations. The Kiss My Grits GitHub web app today data sorted for Tacoma all versions shows 9623 Tacomas on lots of the 1277 dealerships. You bring up Stellantis and Ford who still have promotions on unsold 2023s in July of 2024.

West coast dealers still seem more stocked with Tacomas than other areas. We're shopping a circle up to 330 miles for long bed TRD OR and only see some more available SR5 discounted.

In Idaho/Montana, ORs are as common as penguins and other fourth-gen Tacomas are thin.

Man, it is the exact opposite down here. Sports as far as the eye can see but not a single OR in sight.
