I had a 2nd gen Tacoma and tried a few ways to securely store guns. When I had to get a new truck I got a 3rd gen Tacoma, and I decided to bite the bullet and do it right. This gun safe is FAR better built and more secure than the under seat box, and much more useful and a better use of space than the Arma-15.

The Locker Down safe is easy to install, took about 10 minutes, using a 10mm ratchet (that's a socket driver for you high brows).

Cool....now trim your black plastic OEM piece to fit over the safe so it doesn't look like ISH

Nah, do the easy way and just get some pop clips and a roll of black carpet. Carpet the area down to the car seat tie downs, then put the safe back in.

Is there a way to mount the guns in there. Isolated clamps for any off roading?

Nice addition, it would be nice to add clamps of some sort, to keep multiple guns from banging in to each other.

That’s pretty nice, would be cool if they offered a version that only took the 40% side.

I took the bullshit plastic out of mine this afternoon and was brainstorming ideas on how to secure a rifle and shotgun back there as I put the seats back in. I think this is what I’ll do. Probably keep the guns in separate soft cases and be done. No reason to keep them back there permanently, but good to know they’re secure while I grab groceries after hitting the range. Thanks OP.

op, can you still use the back seats. When you put the seats back up, do they lock in place?

Seeing as these hooks are unaffected by the safe I'd say it's 'safe' to assume so.

Hey very nice I like it ! I got a molle rack in mine thinking I'd use it more. It's okay. I should probably get on it more as it'll save space and easy to get to. That being said for an sportsman or outdoorsman this is very tempting.

Can you elaborate a bit? Why do you not find yourself using the molle panel more? I am planning on making a DIY molle panel here in the next couple months as it seems like a great way to store a number of things that don't need to be in plain sight and/or are seldom used but I want on hand.

It seemed like a better idea than an actual application for me to be honest. It's great and I've seen other people on here use it much much more than I do. I only keep a mechanic's tool set, recovery strap, medical supplies, a fire extinguisher, and road flares. I could mount all that, but it is fine just behind the seat.

Thanks. I plan to mount a lot of the same stuff plus a few more items. I’ve already done some sound deadening and made the back wall look better in preparation of a panel full of holes.

Yes. You can lock the seats in place with the safe mounted and closed. You can also put them in place and not lock them back, so you don't have to unlock them to lean them forward. Either way.

So now you just hide your drugs in the safe? (just kidding, maybe).

Yep, you could probably mount 4 quick fist clamps in the safe itself and youd be in business

That's pretty sweet. How heavy is it? I wonder how secure it is with regards to a collision.. Definitely a good use of that space though, nice work.
