    Tacoma 2020 Limited with JBL

I have replaced my Tacoma JBL speakers and I am happy with the new speakers I installed. The question I have is around the back door speakers. When you first look at them you assume that they are 6.5 inch speakers, but if you look close it really is only a 2.5 inch speaker in a 6.5 inch housing. I know that everyone said that the back door speakers are very low volume, maybe the cause of that is we are putting to big of a speaker replacement. Maybe putting in a more efficient 3.5 inch speaker would sound better. The other question I have is on the JBL crossover. I have read that the rear door speakers have no crossover and they get the full single. After looking at the speaker there is no way they would be able to handle that, in fact I think they are the same as the front dash speakers. I am replacing those this weekend so I can tell you for sure either way.

I was wondering if any experienced sound guys had an opinion? I have checked all the threads I can find and I have not found anything that talks about this. If I missed it I am sorry.

That's weird. On my non-jbl it was a 6.5" paper cone.

This is a little crazy. What brand/model speakers did you use for replacement?

Is that just a drop in replacement for the front dash speaker? Or will you need a bracket. I've been looking for a speaker that will work up there.

No, but I installed a JL audio aftermarket system. There was nothing that fit in those top two dash speakers. Honestly, I may not even be able to hear the speakers up in the dash since they won't be amplified. but, for only $50 it is worth a shot.
