It's not boomers, Luddites span all generations.

3rd gen for years: "I don't want a FOB I want a KEY." "Keep your fan dangled power windows!" "Them computer screens is too large! Nothing wrong with muh AM radio!"

I’m putting a couple of box fans on my third gen out back I’ll kick them on during takeoff then I’ll have what we will call a hybrid too

I don't know about the 'not a true hybrid' part, and I like hybrids that are done right (2000 Honda Insight), but I'm with the boomers, all this needless frilly tech in a Taco, iPad style media player dash garbage is for the soy boys.

Both powertrain options are a huge disappointment. /end

    Thank you!

I'm no battery hater (I owned a tesla at one point).. but I have to agree this seems like a lot of complexity to pay for and maintain over time to get such minimal improvement in fuel efficiency. Is it worth all this just for some improved low end torque from red lights? I guess... maybe?

My 2022 has a key and a tiny LCD screen from 10 years ago.

I still consider it a hybrid even if it doesn't have an "EV" mode. the electric motor in truck application should be there to provide additional torque.

It's absolutely a hybrid and it's not the same as the RAM's eTorque. As mentioned, it will be the same (or very similar) to what's in the Tundra.

Just appears to be a major expense down the road. Extra weight being carried all the time. After 3 or 4 minutes your back to 4cyl only. The NX engine hasn't been out enough to prove itself long term.

There's motor assist when needed not just for 3-4 minutes.

Yes I realize that. All I'm saying is that battery availableness is short lived under heavier needs

Yeh I'm sure it could happen. But the engine should be capable without constant electric assist.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
An available 465ft lbs of Torque and people still complain...
Sure, the ultra conservative Toyota brand is just gonna wing some new unproven technology.
And it's less about the small improvements that are felt by the individual, it becomes significant at scale; in regards to a slight improvement in mpg.

And yet you bought a 2017 soyboy Tacoma instead of a manly simple truck

I think I burn more driving down the highway I’d rather it kick on Ev mode while I’m driving 70 for a few miles guess it would be nice in stop and go traffic but I don’t have that so it’s kinda useless where I live. I’m sure Toyota will come out with one that does this soon.

Gas vehicles are more efficient at highway speeds. Electric are not.

Naw if the engine turns off for a few miles and you’re running on battery you aren’t burning fuel this is where you achieve higher mpgs.

Any given 5 second period while at speed on the highway will give you significantly better gas mileage than 5 seconds of acceleration from a light.

Well the hybrid doesn't work that way. Even PHEV's I believe only work up to like 45mph
