Does anyone know what the breakdown is by sales of the Tacoma by model? I am curious especially now that they offer The Tacoma in like six different trim levels. I often hear people talking about their TRD pro, TRD off-road, TRD sport and even the SR5s but rarely, if ever, do I see anything about the S or the Limited Trim lines.

I understand that if you want a 2 WD truck you are pretty much locked into the S or the SR5, so I suppose that could bump up the numbers on those.

We know Toyota sold approximate 250,000 Tacoma‘s in 2019. But just wondering what the breakdown was by trim line.

There are 2wd ORs, Sports, and Limiteds. Only the Pros is always 4x4. It seems at all MTs are 4x4s.

    Also, SR not S.

What is going to confuse the numbers are fleet sales where a lot of SR and SR5 ACs are used as commercial vehicles.

I have always heard the SR5 is the most common, but I don't have any stats to back that up.
All models except the Pro are available in 2WD and 4WD.

I don't have any numbers, but out in the wild, I overwhelmingly see TRD Sports, followed by OR's.

Sort of has been my experience too just buy the casual Eye test.

When I was looking for my truck, I saw a lot of sport, off road even pros and a fair number of SR5 on the lot. Not so much for the Limited or SR. Could be a regional thing perhaps. But when I was looking I was also looking for a 4x4 in the TRD Family with a long bed so my focus was on that.

If I look at my local dealer at any given time they mostly have Off Road and Sport. Occasionally they have some of the other models mixed in here or there, Limited seems to be the least common.

I don't get what the point of the Limited even is anymore, now that TRD's can get leather.

Exactly, plus i think all that chrome is a turn off to the average buyer.

I was wondering the same thing which is what prompted me to put up this post.

Does the Limited perhaps offer a more “luxurious” experience and ride?

No. If you get leather, JBL, etc on a Sport or OR, the interior is essentially the same, and the Limited has the same “all-purpose” suspension as the SR and SR5.

The only thing that the Limited offers is a more “luxury” appearance in the form of added chrome and fancy wheels.

I ended up with a Limited because in 2017, it was the only way to get leather, a moonroof, and JBL in one trim.

I'd consider the Limited trim as the "budget" method to get the luxury features like leather, sunroof, etc. Once you add the premium package to a Sport or OR, those quickly exceed the Limited's MSRP.

My SR5 was supposed to have been a fleet vehicle, but the buyer backed out. The online salesman called us and next day I was driving it home.

We had a call in to the online salesman from whom we'd previously bought our Corolla at Gullo Toyota of Conroe TX. Easy sale for them, easy buy for us.

We dealt with the dealership's internet sales guy when I got mine. It made it easy to get the money details out of the way and just go in to sign.

5,000 Pros a year from the last reported number I saw.

5% are manuals, I assume thats an overall number, not just the trims that come in manual.
