    Guys,

I’m coming up on five years and was going to replace my oem battery. I was just going to get a basic Duralast because it exceeded the cold cranking amps of the oem battery. When I got to autozone, the guy told me that I need to buy the $250 platinum battery because I have a push starter. He couldn’t explain why a basic battery wouldn’t work since the specs exceeded the oem battery.

Is this legit or just an upselling tactic? Thanks!

So he's wrong, he's thinking stop/start tech which is an AGM battery. 2024 models will have this.

All non-stop start gas toyotas use lead acid batteries you can buy at any store.

I wouldn't go back to that store. Just go to Costco or somewhere similar and install yourself

Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
Just go to Walmart and get an Everstart MAXX and call it a day. If they are good enough for my Vette, they are good enough for the Tacoma. Autozone batteries got REAL expensive.

Nah, on the platinum. Unless you really want it.

My stock battery just crapped out last week. A few months shy of 5 years. Replaced it with a Duralast AGM, because it was the closest store at that time, and a AGM was going to go in anyway.
