Had my tacoma serviced at toyota dealer they tried to sell me new tires. I told them I had some on the way already. He asked brand and I told him cooper's. He then said that according to Toyota they are not allowed to put cooper's on a tacoma as they are not good enough and the received a notice stating so from toyota. I just said ok ty for the info

Never heard that before. I had multiple sets of Cooper ST Maxx tires on my Tacomas with no problems.

Toyota has a list of tires they have contracts to. Cooper doesnt meet that criteria right now.

Most dealers will still sell them but recommend against it.

We sell coopers at my dealer, but we certainly don't push them.

Did the Toyota dealer actually show a Service Bulletin from Toyota head office banning Cooper Tires?

Its actually true, they have a list of tires that toyota recommends. It's up to the dealer on how they want to handle it.

They dont want your money. It's for the best.

This one ranks right up there with dealership who told me they couldn't work with my credit union who I was pre-approved with for an auto loan because they were based out of state. Then they said not to worry because they would take care of my financing. I told them they were right, I wasn't worried. I then said have a nice day and walked out.

My dealership put my Cooper AT3s on for me. The only thing they asked was if I wanted the old tires or not. I've had about 4 sets on two different trucks and have yet to have issues apart from things caused by work suspension on my old truck and running over something in the worst possible spot on the tire. The only issues I've had with tires and the dealership is that my dealership loves to overinflate my tires for some reason.

I was looking at AT tires this spring. Was at the dealer and had a set of Cooper AT3s all set to purchase. The price was right and the tires would meet my needs. Then the parts / tire manager asked if I had the Toyota tire warranty which I do. He told me Toyota Canada doesn't recognize Cooper tires as a national brand name and they wouldn't be covered by the tire warranty. Thought it was 100% BS that they'd sell me Cooper tires but wouldn't include them in the Toyota tire warranty.

I have had Cooper ST Max on my truck for a long time. I have had no issues and these have at least 65k on them now. I try to use coopers in everything when I can because of the great service life I get from them
