Hi, I'm new, I have been looking around trying to find a tutorial but still no luck.
I want to upgrade my tacoma 1999 tail lights to a 01-04 shape seems to fit well I've seen it in other tacos but 96-99 have 5 pins and 01-04 have 6, does someone know how to adapt them?

Wont buy the tail lights un till I make sure how to install them

If your housing is not damaged you can just swap the lense over. Also you are correct about 5 and 6 pin differences. Lucky for you the 01-04 are plug n play. The 2001-2004 tacoma have to mod 5 pin housing to work correctly.

Swap the lenses over, they will fit on the older housings. The only thing is to use the screws from the newer lenses on the older housings.

@EduardoSerch Try these - no mods needed. I got a smoked lens third brake light to match the LED pattern of the tail lights. Search Amerilite on Amazon.

I've had these for almost 2 years and have had no problems. Word of caution; be careful not to overtighten the screws during install.

Better illustration with parking lights engaged.

I'll trade my 01-04 lens for your lens if it is in good condition!
