Tacoma 6MT gargling sound? Platypus noise? Idk

Hey folks, just wondering if I can have some help trying to diagnose this sound I’ve been hearing lately from the passenger side of my truck. Usually happens when the clutch is depressed at idle or slowly creeping into 1st.
2019 OR 6MT w/ 47k miles
Now I know this isn’t the most scientific way to describe it but it’s the best I got:
- a very low volume consistent gargle
- a cartoonish platypus? Think perry the platypus
- morning after a snowfall, windows down the sound your tires make slowly crunching over the fresh snow packing it down
That’s… all I’ve got. Sometimes it sounds like it’s coming from the exhaust, other times it could be the passenger front wheel well/engine bay. I’m chasing a ghost around my truck lately and need to know if anyone else is familiar?

It still goes into gear fine, drives normal?

 

And people thought I was daft when I said my clutch pedal made a kazoo noise.

I do sometimes hear a similar sound when I shift from 3 to 4 with casual throttle. Probably completely unrelated to what you're hearing.

 

Well, it definitely sounds transmission related. There's no real way to find out unless we get under there and start looking at the main wear components or try to recreate it on a lift. Possible TO bearing, clutch, flywheel, maybe one of those is "oscillating" when the clutch is pushed in and things are disconnected, maybe wobbling around and making the sound. I would start there, but it's impossible to diagnose here. A good dealer is worth its weight in gold...

Haha appreciate the feedback guys, will definitely try to get a video over lunch. Unfortunately just recently moved and my “good dealer” is a few hours away and my brother/family mechanic is even further. Hope my phone mic will pick it up

 

Best way I can describe it lol, but yeah drives fine and all just noticed the sound a few weeks ago and it’s driving me wild because I know it hasn’t always been like that

 

My 2017 6mt makes a grumbling noise when in low gear like off-road or just crawling. Got 50k miles with no issue. It’s sounds like manual transmission truck noises to me. All the older fords I’ve had made similar transmission noises when crawling. Not sure if that is same as the platypus noise tho.

 

Do you mean the noise when platypus lay eggs? Or is it more of the mating call? 1st and second sound rather Sasquatchian to me. If it chirps like a dolphin then you’d better take it to a dealer.
