Hi everyone, I have a question, I'm being offered a 2007 Tacoma with 230k miles, one owner, the price is $11,300, is this a good idea with that mileage, or should I keep looking for another option? Thanks for your comments.

Welcome to Tacoma World. Personally I would pass at that price but it's just my personal feeling. The big questions are where is it from (location), what does the frame look like as far as rust goes, and has it been well-cared for or abused? Especially check the frame, then double-check it, and have someone else take a look to triple-check it. Rust will make that $11k price tag go up in smoke real quick. Good luck.

Depending on the condition (especially frame) and how well it’s been maintained, it could be a good price. These trucks are known to go well in to the 300k mile range with minimal repairs from what I’ve read on here. Do you have any pics of it, and the undercarriage?

My personal opinion is that I would pass. Whenever you buy a high mileage vehicle you have to trust that the PO did all the required maintenance and did not drive like a maniac or let his five kids and their friends beat it like a rented mule...

That’s a lot of miles for the price and like others have said the frame condition is key. If you haven’t yet definitely asked for pictures of the frame to see what condition it’s in.

Just for point of reference I gave my son my 3rd gen a few months ago and picked up a 2nd gen for me. I got an ‘08 OR 4WD… with one owner, great service history, frame in good condition (although I did have to fix a spot that wasn’t visible in the pictures), $188k miles on it for $12k.

When I got it just did a a lot of things to it (new suspension, hoses, belts pulleys, a/c compressor needed a new one, etc.) because of the age/miles on the truck and to prevent things from happening. With all of that I just had to replace the drive shaft and figured after 189k miles on it now can’t complain. Just something to think about because with a truck with many miles things may come up that have to be addressed…

My 2007 has 250,000 miles on it. I trust it, but I put all 250,000 miles on it. I wouldn't buy my truck from someone else. But if someone offered me $11K for it I might just sell.

$11k sounds about right to me for a truck with 100k miles on it. But then I’ve been absolutely floored by how much these things cost used. Today’s used market has gone completely insane. I guess I get it given what is being pushed on the buyer nowadays. I’ve no interest in new vehicles.

Huh, maybe I could get around $10k for mine, that would be amazing, just passed 535,000 miles….
