Any suggestions on a a 1- ton axle upgrade for the tacoma? Full Floater?
Going to put the box of an old RV on the back of a 2005 Sr5 5spd V6 longbed donor.

Stock axle is a bit underrated.

How about something from one of the small Hino trucks? Keep it in the family so to speak.

    Cheers.

If you’re going to aftermarket there’s no reason not to go full float. Get a 14 bolt or Ford 9”

boxing the frame while adding new spring hangers is a necessary task of adding a new heavier axle IMO

I’d say a Dana 60, Diamond 9.5, ruffstuff 9.5. The options are endless the question is do you wish to retain ABS?

There are some definite benefits to it, a member on here had one installed on his truck. It's a complete bolt on minus some driveline modifications I believe, and you get to retain the ABS if that is of interest. Me personally, could not see spending that kind of cash on a beefier axle when there are other cheaper options that might not look as fancy but get the job done just as well.

What axles are you thinking of?
Retaining the ABS and stock 17x7.5 rim size is ideal.

I think your options are pretty limited if you want to retain the ABS, with the choice being that bolt in dana 60 from ECGS. Tim had this in his truck before he parted it out, I think you're looking at around a $5k price tag for locker upgrade, 35 spline axle shafts

I have done this mod on my 07 crew cab. I didnt want to chop out wires or pull fuses so this was a great way to be able to engage or disengage the ABS system on demand.
IMO the ABS on the Gen2 is too sensitive and useless for an unloaded pickup, but with all the weight the Rv will add it might be good idea to have it for wet/snow road conditions. If it has to go that fine too. A 5 spd and control with a clutch is the best ABS money can buy.
