Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and new to Tacoma's. I just bought a '21 SR access cab with the 2.7. So far I love this truck and it's also my first new truck ever, and the first 4wd I have owned in over 25 years.

So on to my question. While the truck isn't lifted or modified in any way. Sometimes when my joints act up getting into the truck can be tough. Not impossible but tough. I want to put some side steps on it and was looking at some Westin's for sale on Amazon when I came across TAC/truck accessories company for about 100 dollars less than the Westin's. Anyone that has experience with TAC products how did you like them? Did they fit well without having to modify anything? Are they durable?

    Thank you for your time!

I had these I bought on eBay and were the tac brand. Made of steel and heavy. Adjustable in out up down. The painted welds started to rust after a few months. The front mount is only held in by one bolt so when I stepped on it, I wiggled a little. Also it’s hollow so when the truck starts moving side to side, I can hear the step “groaning” as it flexes. The steps have an edge so don’t hit your shin on them like did. I eventually changed them out for oem bars. The pictures are a while ago and now.602BC43A-4F05-494E-A718-871B68F8BA48.jpg939AB31A-8DCC-4789-A951-1B1466B6337E.jpg

I think I'll just pony up a little more money and buy the oem bars from the dealer. I like how yours look and even the Westin bars were getting poor reviews for quality. For the price it isn't that much more to buy the oem bars. Thank you for the pictures it's really helpful!

Just so you know, the 2005-now access cabs have the same mounting points for running boards. If you’re lucky, you can buy some take offs from someone. Mine came from a 2006 access cab. Previous owner took them off the day he bought the truck and had been in storage for a long time.
