I have Ram mounts in my truck for an iPad mini and my iPhone, I have been very happy with them. Ive tried some the cheaper mounts and you definitely get what you pay for with the ram stuff.

I have 2 ram mounts that I use for a Samsung tablet as well as my phone that are both mounted to a Tech Deck. Not the bet pic but the only one I can find.

Another Ram mount user but expect movement on bumpy or washboard roads. Keep it as short/close to the base as possible and use as few parts/connections as possible.

I have a 3rd Gen but have the same question. Anyone mount a tablet from the passenger side seat bolts? I was wondering if a console side Molle panel would be strong enough to mount a Ram Mount.

I've got two of those seat bolt setups as well; I had one in my VW Westy and one in my Tacoma, both for use with a netbook (kinda gives you an idea how long ago that was). The version with the thicker aluminum pole was more stable but both needed another point of contact to help limit movement so I had made something to work. I removed them and never tried them with my tablet so can't comment on how well it would work for them. I've still got the pieces in storage along with other unused RAM stuff (motorcycle mounts, old GPS mounts, etc). At one of the places I worked we tried them in some of our ambulances with Toughbooks, again, not really impressed.

This is overkill for most. I use a somewhat large Surface Pro for serious mapping. It stays secure over rough terrain in the large RAM X-grip for tablets. Two arms go to the mounts that were made for either side of the heater controls.

For a standard size tablet I'd think one arm off a deck style mount to a smaller x-grip would work fine.

I like the two arm idea, I'm sure that works much better than a single mounting point. I've got an X Grip in the "box-o-parts" but switched to a Tab-Tite after my rubber strap thing finally broke. Current tablet is just a Galaxy Tab A 8" after my original Tab S finally died.

Your radio sun shield looks like the one I made from Kydex for my radio- another one of those Tacoma quirks where Toyota's engineers didn't do a very good job. Before that I had a strip of Velcro above the radio and a L shaped piece of Kydex.

I did the "Build a Mount" option on Ram Mounts and it suggested this arm for a dash mount option, is this a non drill in to dash option? it did not specify, Thanks in advance!

The Ram product you need to attach it to your oh-shit-handle is actually a motorcycle part. I found the part number for you: RAM-B-367U

I believe you drill holes and put that stainless backing plate behind your dash and then sandwich your dash between the plate and the ram mount. I thought about going this route but the interior of our truck has very few spots that are actually flat and not occupied by something other part already.

Thanks for this idea, I went with a tab a7 lite, runs perfect and $50, got the parts off ebay for another $50 free shipping so full nav only cost me $100, the money saved will be spent on Avenza maps.IMG_6868.jpg IMG_6865.jpg
