i bought these today and i cant tell a huge difference. yes the light looks whiter but i accidentally removed the headlight retainer clip and it is currently only being held by the rubber boot, causing the light to possibly aim low. i need to do some more testing before i cna say these suck. i picked these up for $60 at auto zone but you can get them cheaper on Amazon and ebay i might return these and get something brighter.

There are 2 different camps in halogen lighting, Performance and Cosmetic.

For those that care about performance, Sylvania Silverstar products are garbage. (Different than Osram Silverstar)

Fully coated bulbs like Silverstars produce reduced lumen output and have much shorter bulb life while filtering out usable portions of the light spectrum for cosmetic reasons to look 'whiter'. These bulbs produce less output than stock, have some of the worst bulb life while costing more, but look "cool". Some people get confused by the light appearing whiter and think that must mean the bulbs are brighter.

A true performance bulb will not have a fully coated lens. If you want a stock wattage bulb that produces good gains, look at Volsa +100s, Philips Xtreme or Osram Nightbreakers.

If you are more concerned about looks over functionality, you might find the whiter light (though reduced output) meets what you are looking for.
