Hey everyone. I plan on installing some heated seats this month. I have two open switch spots, one on the lower panel, one on the left panel. Plan is to relocate the parking sensor button to the left panel so I can put the two switches for the heated seats in the main lower switch panel. Question is, has anyone relocated any of the switches? Wondering how much wire the harness has in the back and if I will need to splice the wire and make it longer to reach the left side panel or not. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to relocate my ETC button but Toyota is so tight tolerance with their wiring. Hopefully in your case it isn't the same issue.

    Good luck

Moving to the left of the steering wheel you would definitely need to splice more wire for length. But you can move them around.

    Current setup.

Or you get get different switch panel for the left.

Maybe @daveeasa could fabricate a harness for you.

Also, many move ECT to the shifter button as that does seem like a good spot for it.

Unfortunately it's an MT, so they won't have that option.

This is actually the same setup I want to accomplish. I've ordered the same seat warmers based on your switch. How you liking them so far?

I'd be interested in this if they are plug n play. Sounds like it's atleast a 30in extention based on the post for the ECT harness relocation

They aren't bad. I haven't used them as much as I thought that I would though. I do prefer the OEM ones in my wifes Jetta too, ha. Those I can feel right away all over. The Tacoma takes a few minutes before I start feeling any heat.

OP, disconnect the useless Qi and use that spot for your second heater switch

Those are the two that I was kicking around the idea of relocating. Going by part numbers, those connectors look like they are toyota proprietary, so I'm guessing that its not easy to find a male/female pair to fab up an extension cable? Or is it? Do female connectors for those two parts exist?

    ...

My only two switch blanks are in the overhead, which means I need a lengthy extension. Left side is occupado, no-go, seat's taken, Forrest.

So if I can make plug/play extensions for those two, that would be my first choice. If it comes down to splicing and soldering existing wires, then its the seat switches that get my hack job, and they will live in the overhead instead. I already have a length of 18g/6 core on order.

I know which one will be easier. If it were your truck, which would you do?

I would toss the useless Qi and move ECT to the shifter button to free up two spots.

ECT and auto headlights use the same connector. Extensions do exist as well:

    Oh look, another mod....

    Here's my suggestion:

(Get rid of the Qi button, move the BSM button over one. Now you have a spot to place the heated seat buttons, so they're close to each person)

Oem panels and switches are keyed so you’d have to file to adjust locations. I’d rather put that time into a MESO LSP.

They are keyed but you don't need to file. Just pop them out from the back and then push them back in where you want from the front. They'll move just fine.

I agree on removing the Qi button. That charger is useless. If you have an aftermarket rear bumper or plan to get one, then your BSM button can be removed too. Those sensors don't work with most bumpers.

Also if those switches are latching (I don’t have either) they could be wrapped with foam and always on, behind the panel. Not a ton of value to turning them on or off as I see it.

... Yeah I'm the wild-ass that actually uses the Qi pad and also toggles all those buttons on a semi regular basis (both parking and BSM get shut off when towing). :anonymous::anonymous:

So what I'm hearing is to put up with the weird aesthetic of mounting the seat switches to the overhead and leaving the lower panel alone. :cookiemonster:
