I'm setting up to rebuild my swing out rear bumper. The bumper itself is bomber, but the swing out (while it has stood the test of the last 20 years), needs to be cut off and rethought. Back in the day, there was basically only one speciality latch available, but there appears to be a much wider market and variety now. There are tons of inexpensive choices on Amazon in the "u-bolt" category, and they mostly have terrible reviews complaining about how quickly they fail under a faction of the claimed load. Obviously I will steer clear of those.

But I haven't really been able find a reputable source for truly off road rated latches. I'm not married to the U bolt/lever design, so if you have another latch you like, and a good reason that it works, I'm open to other ideas, and ultimately just trying to gain a better understanding of currently available options.

I've seen the 4x innovations offering, but their photos aren't really that clear on how to install or operate it.
