Cool, Thanks. I imagine thats about the same weight as for the second gen as well. I've been contemplating taking it off for some time.. more articulation, and also a little less weight to haul around all the time. Especially if I get the offroad bumper I want. But I do much more on road driving and will have to be conscious when cornering.

    A few bolts are different.
Removed my sway bar when I upgraded to 750# springs. It is great. Smoother ride and little more flex. Not much nose dive for my application either.

Would you have to worry about it getting to much flex and damaging something... I know there's prob no such thing as too much flex but could you damage something if it flexed to much

lift, big boy tires, deck plate, no more sway bar, painted stuff
I hear if you take out the endlinks and leave the sway bar on for a long time then it can cut the brake line, but idk if you take the whole thing out you're good. we just have the endlinks out for now and when we're absolutely sure we don't want it on we'll take it off.

Just a bunch of old crap
I would NOT want to leave the end links hanging loose without taking the full sway bar off. Not worth the risk of having them get crushed somewhere in the suspension or brakes.

Couldn't you just zip tie everything out of the way so it doesn't get crushed

It literally only takes a few minutes to undo the 4 bolts holding it on. Why not just take it completely off?

I took mine off a little over a month ago. After the first couple weeks getting used to it I'm comfortable driving spirited again. I have ICON coilovers in the front cranked to ~2.5" lift if anyone is wondering how it is with specific suspensions.

Are there any kind of liabilities related to taking off the front sway bar? Like say you were in an accident, would your insurance not cover you because of it? Would anyone even notice?

I took my sway bar off yday and it made way more of a difference offroad than I would have thought. Was lovin it. But then I took it back on the street and started seein what the body roll was like, and I wasn't diggin it lol. I do way too much curvy highway driving and I like to drive like I'm in a racecar :) so I put that bitch back on for now. Think ill make myself some quick connects.

If you pull that "quick disconnects" off for a 2nd gen especially you'll be a millionaire, so get busy buddy !!:D

Would also like an answer to this question. This is the reason my dad wont let me take it off, and he says its for safety. Im trying to talk him into it but he has valid points. I have Icon coilovers so the body roll wont be very bad, right?

Removal is great for offroad (more travel) On road you WILL feel & experience body roll, its not dangerous but does take some getting used to, mines been off for over a year & no plans to put it back, stiffer suspension def. reduces most of it....;)
