Hello all - first time posting, and very happy to join yall!

My rig is a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with no current modifications. This past weekend I took the truck off road in the Shenandoah and was dissatisfied with the performance of the all-terrains that came with the truck: 265/70R16 Goodyear Wranglers. Honestly, they might as well have been street tires for all the grip we lost.

Before I got this truck, I had a 1991 Jeep Cherokee that I equipped with a 3-inch lift to accommodate 30x9.5 General Grabber A/TX. Those tires were remarkable on the trail, gripping the slippery rocks you find in the Appalachians.

When I go to somewhere like Tire Rack, though, the site claims the tire is not available for my vehicle. If I search by brand and size, though, I see LT265/75R16. It is my understanding that 265/75R16 tires can reliability be installed on stock suspension without rubbing or cutting. Shouldn't these tires then fit my truck?

Is there something that I'm missing? I also understand that I'll have to have someone reprogram the odometer - because it's an electronic device and not just a simple, tried and tested mechanical gauge

Hello. I have the same exact tires in that same exact size. No problems whatsoever. With stock suspension, 265/75/R16 is the largest tires you can put on without any problems. it is a 1 inch "taller" tire compared to the stock OR factory tires.

Oh boy, I feel stupid. I swear I searched, but I'm sure that's what all noobs say, too... Thank you!

I did some more reading, and on the off chance someone else comes across this, I looked into doing 285/75R16, but based on what I saw, even with a 3'' lift, I would need to cut and weld(?) to accommodate the next size up of the Grabber A/TX.

I’ve read up on all the tire sizes with appropriate lifts months ago when I was really into it and all. But right now I am content with the size I’m running on stock OR suspension. I forget a lot of the info off the top of my head.
In the future I’ll be wanting to do a modest 2 inch lift with a larger tire. Maybe that will happen with my next set of tire years down the road

100% LT265/75R16 will fit and will look amazing. Share the photos once you decide.

Best part is you can do a small lift and the tires will still look great.

265/75/16 will fit with no rubbing and no modifications on the stock wheels.

Speedometer will likely be more accurate than it was because it comes just slightly slow from the factory.

There was another tire thread I read here recently cautioning about LT tires vs. P tires.
LT tires are going to be heavier than P.

    ex:
    Rugged Trail T/A - Size: P265/70R16 = 38lbs
    All-Terrain T/A KO2 - Size: LT265/70R16 = 50lbs

    31% heavier

I've read that, too, and I don't mind it. I was very pleased with their performance both on and off road on my Cherokee.
