Swap wheels on 5 lug 14 inch to larger size?

Getting familiar with here and haven’t seen this asked yet outside the usual “what is the biggest tire I can put on a 14 inch stock wheel?” (What is the biggest anyways…?)

Truck: 1996 Tacoma, 2wd, 5 lug V6 (bit rare, never thought I’d see one)

I want a bit more clearance or height for my stock, never been modded 96 Tacoma I got as payment for a job I did (was for my dad but he doesn’t want it and I’ll be damned if I’ll let him sell it)

This is before considering the P.I.T.A that is 1.) getting a lift kit, 2.)paying for installation, or 2b.) setting my garage for a few days to do this (dad is a mechanic but I do not think he wants to really work on the truck, so it may be a project for me).

I want to know if there is indeed a larger tire size I can go for, or if not then larger diameter wheels to then put larger tires and get a slight increase in clearance/height.
I wanna use her for hunting out in the desert and for work, and thus far she is simply a good runner truck once I finish fixing her up.

 

Friend of mine found out Jeep Cherokee wheels from 84-92 fit his five lug Tacoma, I think they are 15", maybe check the junkyards for a set.
