I just bought a brand new set of 2017 trd pro fox coils and shocks for front and back. It was a steal got them brand new from a friend who drove them off the lot then lifted his rig 6 inches. I got the parts today and one of the rear shocks is damaged. At the end of the boot where I think some bushing are the tip of the threading is mangled and the threading looks normal and undamaged but the bolt won't tighten on. Any tips? Can I just get the part rethreaded at a shop or should I get some of my money back and just keep the fronts?

That looks like where the shock shaft is held to tighten the nut and was mangled by the wrong tool during removal.

If that's the only damage, probably would still work if you can get the nut tight... Would I personally rather an undamaged one? yes. Who knows what else was done during removal to short cut the process..

Here's how it is supposed to work: https://youtu.be/spGpKnBejUI?t=578

Mine was snapped off completely, there were no thread left. I sent it to Fox and they repaired it for $180. I got my suspension for $150 because one of the rears was broken.

Yours looks like its just the wrench holder part thats chewed up though, the threads look fine. So you should be able to use yours just fine, but getting them out again will not be fun. What your seeing is what happens when someone uses vice grips to hold the shock instead of a 5mm wrench.
