Helloooo, Taco fans! Ok this weekend is the time I'm tearing into this truck to restore the trucks suspension. Already gathered New Genuine control arms, Toyota Ball joints, upper and lower, upper LCA bushings, sway bar bushings and end links and now need the collective help of the members to help me sort out this ride height thingy.

Decided on going with the 5100's and found the front set, no springs yet. We can get back to that in a minute.

For the rears, I'm looking to install a new leaf pack and either 5100 or the 5125's.

    1. What's the difference between these two shocks? I plan on either a stock or a 1.25" lift and I hear the 5125 are for lifted truck, but I defer to the TW experts to guide me on this choice.

    2. Leaf springs I'm looking at are the All-Pro Standards but I have a question. They are $979 alone or what looks to be $859 with a set of Billie 5125's. What gives. Links below. Are the leaf springs not the same model, which is 4500T-AP?

Already ordered the front shocks but they are returnable if needed. Link below for a nice price on them.

Opinions on springs welcome. If someone has the measurements, then that's great as I can possibly look for a manufacturer that I'm interested in.

5100"s are sold as application specific shocks, usually in extended lengths compared to stock. 5125's are universal shocks that come in various lengths and typically have a couple valving options. With 5125's you pick the length based on your specific build needs.

Ok, so I can stick with the 5100's but why the price difference between the leaf springs alone and the leaf springs and shocks together as a kit? Seems strange.

That does seem strange and I have no idea why that would be. As for the 5100's, as long as they are giving you enough range of travel they are fine. I find that 5100's can be kinda short for most aftermarket leaf springs. I imagine that's why Wheelers chose to use the 5125's with those leafs.

Great, 5125's should be ok. Now all I have left is the front spring rate. I've red the Accutune article and it appears that I need a 14" spring around 600 lbs, but I'm trying to achieve an estimated 1" lift with the shock set to 0. Is that even possible?

Also, will the rear raise with this new leaf spring 5125 setup?

I'm not familiar enough with what spring length Bilstein uses to determine lift amounts. I think it is a 600lb rate. If 14" is longer than whatever they use, than some lift would be expected.

The leafs in your link say they provide approximately 3" of lift. The shocks don't have any affect on ride height.

Bilstein uses adjustable spring perches to determine ride height. Stock springs work with the front shocks and you can go 0 to something like 2.5".

They figure 0" lift on the lowest setting, using a coil spring longer than what they used to determine that will (or should) net you some lift even at that lowest clip setting. I don't know what the stock coil length is. A spring with a higher spring rate than they figure should also give a little lift.

Could be the 6112's that I was thinking about that are available with Bilstein coils....I wonder what length they are...not that they would work on 5100's, but curious nonetheless.

I’ll take measurements on the stock springs early next week when I test into the suspension.
