Wondering if anyone makes superchargers for the first gen 2.7L’s. I’m not looking to win any races just to have some more power.

Did you end up installing a supercharger?

@BartMaster1234 has a TRD supercharger for his 2.7l

It's the same one that LCE sells but with the TRD brand, from back when they offered them for the 2.7l and the 3.4l

I'll let Bartmaster tell you himself but I think he'll agree that a turbo is the way to go for the 4 banger...the superchargers are a lot of money and headache for little improvement

He also has a lot of added weight on his truck though

Seems to be the turbos are cheaper as well.

The only real advantage to the superchargers is that they're (the TRD ones anyway) smog-legal in CA, if that applies.

hard to find a TRD unit for the 2.7l these days though

The 4 cylinder supercharger for these trucks are 100% not worth it, at least from an automatic transmission standpoint. You need so many supporting mods (not to mention premium fuel) for extremely diminishing and little return.

The one and only reason I still have it is because I’m sick in the head, and I wanted something with boost. Also, it’s CA CARB and smog legal.
