I have read what feels like a million posts on Pin Stripe removal. Paint thinner, acetone, oven cleaner, buffing, etc. However, if I am reading right and the posts are true, the super white taco does not have a true clear coat and so the question becomes, "What is the best option to remove painted on pinstripes from a super white (0040) 2018 TRD Pro?" I'm under the impression the clear coat is what protects the finish from using these products. Any professional advice or comments from those with super white and have performed pinstripe removal would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I’m no paint expert but a decent rubbing compound should work regardless of whether you have single stage paint (no clear) or clear coat. You might try a good sealer and wax first. This dramatically reduces the appearance of my pinstripes, which I don’t want to buff, to save my paint from further wear.

I would definitely not be putting acetone or oven cleaner on it!

Single stage paint, which I’ve heard is what the super white is, is better in that it has no clear to start peeling.

Just pick up a bottle of buffing compound and a couple micro fiber cloths and try it on a spot under the hood if you’re worried it will mess up the paint.

If your pinstripes are vinyl like mine were I used my wife’s blow drier and peeled them off and took the residue off with wd-40 and microfiber clothes there are a bunch of you tube videos on it

Are we talking pin stripes from branches or are we talking graphic decals?

If decals, I used a decal adhesive remover on my decals on my 91 4Runner, which was also white and I believe single stage. It worked great with a plastic scraper and elbow grease.

Be careful with a OTC rubbing compound you could end up marring the paint and then have to fix the damage from the aggressive compound with a light polish.
Pin stripes are easy to remove, as suggested heat it up with a hair dryer and carefully peal off. I use Goo Gone with a microfiber to remove the left over adhesive.
Then follow up with an AIO to clean the paint after. AIO=ALL in ONE polish which will clean and protect and not overly aggressive to damage the paint if you don't know what your doing.

Removing painted on pinstripes from a new $40,000+ truck is something I would have a Pro do. I'm not it.

Yes, I'm also thinking down that line. Waiting to hear back from my dealer to see who painted them so I can contact them about the pinstripes, type of paint used, can they remove them, etc.

Pretty sure they are definitely painted on, cant get finger under them at all and on the inside of the back driver side door you can see 2 small dots of the pin strip colors where the painter just slightly touched the weather stripping at the end of his run that came right off with my thumbnail. Obviously not so easy with the truck.

Is the stripe black? Can you post a pic of your Pro? The avatar pic is too blurry.

Its actually 2. On e red and one black that end in a point at the front.

the front part of the back door in this second pic looks square cut but I peeled a tiny bit off with a thumb nail. All I could get though because it was on the curve I guess I was able to get into it.

Good golly! Confirmed its after market paint on because I cleared about a 2 inch stretch on the rear pillar with about 40 minutes of elbow grease and a clay bar. Has to be an easier way :(

Mine were painted on also. The dealer left the info for the company that did the pinstripes in my glovebox. I contacted them and they removed them free of charge.

Nice, no such luck here, I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer who did it.
