My sunroof recently started creaking when just driving around. It does not creak when I open it. If I push up with a finger on the glass, it makes the same sort of creaking sound. Maybe the rubber accordion-looking seals?

Btw, please, for the love of God, no replies from people like Lt Dangle. I don't need your pollution ruining my day. Just looking to fix issues with my truck, not argue with worthless fanboys.

    Adjustment under warranty?

And the forum has an 'ignore' feature so you don't have to be troubled with posters you don't want to read.

It's not under the bumper to bumper warranty any more. Not that it matters, Toyota told me outright they were simply refusing to fix things that were still supposedly under warranty.

How many miles? 3 years or 36k miles is bumper to bumper warranty. And did Toyota tell you that or the dealer?

'Supposedly' must be the key here.

It's got 44k miles. The warranty thing isn't about the sunroof, which just started happening. I had things like the creaking clutch pedal, lubed multiple times at dealers. Field rep said "this is normal, we are not authorizing an additional repair". Howling rear diff for which there is a TSB...dealer tech said in ride along when he heard the noise "oh, that is normal, all diffs make noise". Stuttering and shuddering when accelerating...normal, but they finally applied the recent TSB which helped for a while then the problem came back. Screeching noise from both front windows in hot weather when rolling window down. Field rep said "probably caused by sand stuck in the felt gasket, we are not authorizing this repair, you can fix it yourself at your own cost (so the same grain of sand in the same spot in both windows somehow disappeared when he spent 15min looking for it?)...Engine codes, dealer verbally admitted they were there, deleted them, then said "no codes found" on repair order....The field tech grudgingly admitted to creaking rear leaf springs (for which there is a TSB) but pointedly wrote on the work order "this is a one time goodwill gesture, no warranty implied". They only admitted it because I demonstrated it in front of them.

So yeah, excuse me if I don't have a lot of confidence in the dealer or Toyota.

routinely- on any sunroof vehicle- open it and add some good rubber protection here - 100% silicone works well also. I'd bet sand or dust/dirt is the issue.

Welcome. depending on your location - silicone on the door seals helps prevent iced closed doors and really helps with sealing-- do the sunroof rubber often. (it gets cooked in the sun , like Donatella )

I'm in western WA state and it only recently started happening, but maybe the dry summer/fall air helped dry out the rubber. Will spray that stuff everywhere!

Don't blame you. I'd likely be looking to sell. Fortunately my '13 has been ok so far. Other than I only have 5 lugs per corner. ;)

Get this at your Honda dealer or online via Amazon. It's the bee's knees for lubrication of rubber and felt.

I would use Toyota body grease, part# 08887-02007 to lube the sunroof glass weather strip at Lexus.

Awesome. Got product recommendations too! This is what this forum should always be like! Thanks guys!

Bill, I'd sell my truck but honestly as long as things were running right, I freaking love it. I test drove other small trucks like the Chevy Colorado and even a smaller guy like me felt cramped as hell in that tiny cab. Toyota has a damn monopoly on mid sized trucks, and they act like it too.
