As I sat in my truck today eating lunch, I couldn't help but sit there and stare at this unused space in my beloved interior setup. I wear prescription glasses 24/7 and so I never really need to keep a pair up there since they are on my face already. But as I soft closed and opened it repeatedly brainstorming, I couldn't help but think this would be a great location to hide switches that you could secret away. That someone HAD to have made some kind of flip down screen to an always on front or rear camera. Best I could find was a switch panel replacement for the area that @mesojdm had done that included the crawl control.

My brain just can't help but sit there and look at the ability to hide things away in the console and not try to figure out a way to mount something there. Surely I can't be the only one. Let's see em! Or just toss me your ideas and let's brainstorm.

(Side note: My truck is getting built like a redneck Batmobile. So I'm certainly not going to judge anyone for a "stupid" suggestion.)

Hmmmm . . . I wear prescriptions too. I have a "clear" pair, and prescription sunglasses. One of those is always in that compartment.

Mine are still always on me. If it's daytime, my sunglasses are on. And it's not like I'm gonna trade them out until I get inside of where I'm going. So the changeout pair just stays in my go-bag. My glasses case from that bag won't fit in the holder, so then I'd be taking them out of the case, putting them in the holder, getting where I'm going, taking them right back out and putting the right back in the case. It just ends up not working out well for me. At least not well enough to justify using that prime real estate.

Buy a TRD Off-Road and you won't have this problem.

Well, let's just assume I appreciate the truck doing the shifting for me and that it's unlikely I'm going to go buy a brand new truck just to fix a minor problem like the sunglass holder not being that functional. But got it. You have a personal preference.

The joke is that the OR doesn't have a sunglass holder.

Right. Because it has the crawl control. I got what you were getting at.

I'm confused. Is that not a 2nd gen console? And the sunglass holder seems to still be the same.

Yeah and I wonder what the point of that even is (a 4 x 2 "Off Road") but ... I digress.

Funny enough, there is a thread somewhere where someone is trying to make one.
