My driver side sun visor fell out of the hinge today. Brand new truck, used the visor maybe half a dozen times. I pushed it back into the hinge. I'm hoping it stays in, but holy chintzy quality, Batman! Anyone else experience this?

No. I never use mine but wife (much shorter) uses the passenger side all the time. Seems sturdy.

If I remember right, there were a few people discussing this problem a couple of weeks or so ago.

I did a search before posting and couldn't find another thread. I guess it's just bad luck of the Irish.

I ran into the same issue while driving. I just forcefully jammed it back into place until I heard a click. I haven't had a problem since. Nevertheless, it's pretty disheartening to know that something like this would happen to a brand new Toyota. The quality control is not what it used to be. My 2001 Tundra was bulletproof!

Yep, same happened to me at about 3 weeks. Pushed it in but can't get it to stay. I took it apart to see how it is held in and found that the design is definitely "chintzy" quality.

Yeah, I ended up taking mine apart and fixing it. Really minimal plastic pinch-collar holding that thing in.

I might try to see if an internal tooth washer can be used to secure it better.

I preferred the setup on my FJ. It had a small visor that flipped down from above the door.

ugh, I came from a civic that went through three sets of visors. Was hoping to not have to go through that again

The problem isn’t so much quality. Everything is plastic these days. Majority of the time the material is in spec. The problem is the engineering, and design. After working on vehicles for 13 years you see how much idiotic stuff these engineers and designers come up with. Sometimes they over engineer things for whatever purpose. But the purpose of making it functional, or durible seemed to take the back burner.

Yeah. I was pretty stoked when I realized the squeak wasn't coming from the dash, or anywhere else.

Same thing happened to me. Just spent 2 hours driving 16 miles in the Maze District and the thing just fell off.

After fixing mine, it seems pretty clear it wasn't properly assembled from the start. Haven't had a problem since.

PICS so we all know what and where. Can you install one of those rivet nuts and screw it in good?

It's plastic pinch-collar that holds the visor hinge in place. The only thing keeping the visor from falling out is a plastic ridge. I think Toyota was just too lazy to push the visor hinge in far enough to click into place.

This. I'm blown away at the whining in this thread.

They didn't push it in all the way. Push it in till it clicks. Should be fine. It's not a big deal.

If it doesn't secure, get the dealer to give you a new one and push it in till it clicks.
