    Hello guys. I put this in another forum but it should belong here.

    Put on 4 coats of vht graphite spray can paint in heavy wind at 6 inches or so (doing perpendicular direction also). The specs in the close up you see are just reflections from metallic flake other wise they are pretty smooth. I didnt get all pits and scratches out but there not on the face so Im thinking you wont see them that much. Theres still a little texture that might really look cool with a bunch of clear coats. Apparently you need a paint with catalyst (2 part) so I was thinking usc spraymax matte clear coat but its an acrylic and I really wanted polly.
    Thoughts, questions, concerns, general opinions?

    (I kinda thought it would look really slick with the primer just painted in a matte clear)

    I used vht cast iron on my 2nd gen wheels, clear coated with duplicolor clear coat matte;
    I'm tempted to do the same to my current Sport wheels..

    Rattle can????

    You need to figure out the type of paint you used, ie Acrylic, Enamel, Lacquer, Urethane.

    The clear coat you use needs to be compatible with the color type. Otherwise, you are set for all sorts of trouble, orange peel, bubbling, not curing.......all leading to a redo.

    If you don't know the paint type, then suggest to get the same brand and type of clear in a rattle can as you used for the color.

    Frankly, I wouldn't use anything short of a 2K urethane paint system on a vehicle.

    Ok well its polly. and VT makes a clear in matte! I just saw someone with the same color who clear coated it and they looked amazing.

    What do you guys think of the spray job I did, should I do another thicker final coat or will the clear make it look pro?

    I've us 2k Spraymax over acrylic lacquer with great results. Resistance to oil, gas, etc. is always nice. And its has a certain "depth" that you wont get from many other aerosol clear coats.

    I think polyurethane and the 2k Spraymax (which is urethane I believe) are compatible. I’m not 100% sure on that though.

    Thanks, Im going to give it 3-4 coats of clear, brake dust is hell on wheels. VHT you gotta apply all coats within an hour or wait 7 days.
    The pitting from oxidization sucks but its on the inside and hard to see. I do regret not spending more time sanding or the jb weld technique maybe, only used 60-80 grit sandpaper. But then I remember there from an 01 4runner how much time would that be and my painting window is closing.
