I have another thread that describes the crazy amount of issues I’ve had with the truck. But long story short, I took it to another dealership for a second opinion and state they may have found sugar in my fuel tank?

As for what’s wrong with the truck, again, long story short it basically drives like crap with a check engine light.

I’m not sure what to do. Dealership is quoting 1,200 to fix and replace the pump. Normally I’d say no and do it my self but not sure I even want to turn it on if there’s a crap ton of sugar or whatever is in there. Any opinions on what to do?

UPDATE: 10/13/21. Called insurance. Waiting to hear back from adjuster.

$1200 doesn't actually seem that bad if you need a full fuel-system replacement. Has it been verified how far along the system this material got? I would think that 99% of it was held at the sock on the low-pressure pump. I would be inclined to flush the system and power-flush the injectors.

Something is in the gas tank. Regardless if its sugar, looks like the tank needs to be cleaned out. Hope the injectors are ok.

That would suck but being in SoCal nothing would surprise me, people do all kinds of vengeful shit to each other in urban environments. Got any angry neighbors, ex, etc?

I would be worried about more than just the pump, injectors for one thing

    Bitter-sweet. Lol.
I thought the same, wanted to see how everyone else felt about the situation. Dang it.
Probably trashed too with my luck.

Another idea is I was in New Mexico, in the middle of a sand storm. Possible that sand got in but this seems pretty excessive.

Yeah I dunno, that would be excessive to me too. People go wheeling in sand dunes and kick up a bunch of sand all over the interior/exterior and don't get it in their tanks, unless there's some way it's getting in that it shouldn't be.

Plus I assume the pic in the OP is from the dealer looking at your truck? Those hardened chunks looks like what sugar would do if wet then hardened. That or you've got a lot of $$$$ worth of cocaine in your gas tank. Get ready for the PMs

I always heard that sugar would just sink to the bottom and wouldn’t do anything. Maybe it’s time for a trade in.

Seems odd that it would be sugar, frankly I think they were just guessing based on the texture. Who knows what this is.

That’s an old thing you’d do to fuck up someone’s car, squeezable margarine on the wipers, superglue in the locks, bologna on the hood, Cheerios in the front lawn.

I really don’t think it is. But it looks bad regardless. Here I thought I was going in for another fuel pump recall.
