Have seen a few threads where the 4runner hood scoops were grafted into the tacoma’s hood...couldn’t find a 4runner or Tacoma hood with a scoop for the right money so adding a ‘98 subaru Outback hood scoop to the ‘98 tacoma.

Are you making it functional with a hole in the hood or just for the look.
If just for the look you probably will have to block off the scoop inlet or else
the scoop will act like a kite pulling on the hood at speed so it better
    be well attached.
I found my 4runner scoop on carparts.com for around 150.00 and they
cut the main section out of the hood and shipped it.
The 4 runner scoop originally has a block off for air flow as it’s originally not functional
so you would not have any kite effect or drag or u can cut a hole 4 air to flow in the hood and the scoop. I chose to make mine functional.
A hood scoop gives the truck a completely different look.
Definitely do it and take your time doing it correctly.
Not to many scooped Tacoma trucks out there.

    I found my 4runner scoop on carparts.com

A friend of mine just got a hood for his 4runner on carparts.com... there
was a problem with it and his experience is that they have great customer
service and took care of him right away...

That’s the beauty of this scoop - The ‘98 outback came stock with a block off plate. No supercharger...yet..

Cluster swap, tilt column swap, head light swap, remote oil filter install, lift, wheels and tires on the way
    Will a 2000 4runner hood fit on a 97 tacoma?

No, not unless you change the grill bumper and fenders to 4runner parts

Easy there Kemosabi! Definitely taking your advice and on the ‘take your time and do it correctly’ - plus working two jobs as an engineer and real estate agent, and had to replace an exhaust gasket on the 83 toyota camper last week, lots of time spent there so we could go camping.
