I recently purchased a 12" Subwoofer box from Taco Tunes. The box looks great but I'm having some install problems. I'm installing into a 2020 TRD Off Road (Double Cab).

Everything seemed to go okay but I can't latch the seat and the sub seems to hit the rear of the seat when playing loud.

Anyone else have this problem or can recommend a better fitting box?IMG_7384.jpg IMG_7383.jpg

I have put in Racesport gen3 leds I'm the process of doing a custom audio overhaul which will include Hybrid audio unity 6x9 mid bass, unity 3 inch mid driver in the dash and fiberglassing tweets in pilar soundeading all the doors, floors, and headliner and I will be using a helix processor to retain the factory radio and as far as subs I might make custom brackets to move rear seat foward a few inches to get a full size sub in there or I might just go with a pair of jl tw5 or tw3 and it will all be powered by jl audio HD amps or I might try out the new hybrid amps
Try removing the mat that is behind the box from the factory it will give you a tad bit more clearence

Yeah, I don’t see how that sub
Has any room for excursion. How does that even work.

Really tight fit right there. Gonna need to find some room somewhere for that setup to work right.

Thanks for the suggestion. Got it to work. Needed to remove the plastic backing on the seat. Now it latches and doesn’t rattle (presumably from the sub hitting the back of the seat)

Be good if you could get all the room you can. Those move pretty far when you start gettin’ into it.

On the bright side, Taco Tunes didn’t rip you off like they usually do for most people.

Had a similar box in my 2008. It was from SuperCrewSound. I had to remove the bin, and the plastic from the back of the seat like you did. I have a 2020 Tacoma now, will not be doing that again. I missed having the ability to fold the seats down flat.

Can still do it if you add a thin piece of metal or something

You can get longer bolts for the rear seats.. and some spacers.. That's what I wound up doing. I added half inch spacers with the seat bolts.. You may have to bend the catch for the rear seat latch a little as well. Also if you move the bench seats up in the same manner with spacers the angle stays the same. It all depends on how much room you need. You may also have to remove the child seat restraints to get the box to sit farther back depending on the design.
