Naw. But I'm getting old and that is what forms my opinion on this stuff. But I will tell you that if you have the 3.4 you're going to be very annoyed with the drone. And our v6 is not the hottest sounding to begin with so if you're doing it to impress folks it aint going to happen. Why do you want to do this anyway?

It won't, unless you swap a V8 in there it's just going to sound like a loud V6 racket. I like loud V6 sounds but they aren't truck sounding haha

A "real truck" doesn't have a sound. My real trucks run anything from 2.7 to a 460, all are as quiet as I can make them. The only loud one is a diesel.

If you want it to sound like a v8, it wont. If you want it to sound like an old muscle car, it wont. All a straight pipe does is make it loud and at best annoying.

But to answer your original question, you take a sawzall to your expensive exhaust, buy 2 clamps and $2 in 2 inch pipe. Bamn, your truck now sounds like ass and it only cost maybe $10

I have 2004 TRD 4x4 v6 when it was 10 year old I put new exhaust system on. Bought the part from Toyota, if was pricy, but it all stainless, and it sounds great. quiet Is good. I had put a after market on my Maxima and it is show signs of age. The Tacoma still looks new. I put them on about the same time.

I miss my Maximas, had a 93, 97, 02, and 14 haha. All great cars, technically we still have the 14 but I don't use it anymore. The 97 was the most fun I think because it was a fully loaded sport model, the 14 is too but CVT is kinda strange for doing pulls haha. Always wanted to boost one.

Anyway back to the conversation going on here, I have a "loud" muffler on my 4cyl and while it does sound throaty and burbly at low RPM it still doesn't have that low rumble quality a nice V8 would. I'll be putting a turbo on my truck within the next month or so and I will be looking for the most quiet laminar flow muffler I can find, I am tired of hearing my engine drone on the highway. All I want to hear is spool and a little exhaust, so I'll probably be going for an 18" Magnaflow or 22", but my days with my already rusting out Flowmaster Super 40 Series Delta Flow are numbered haha. Call me old but I'm getting tired of hearing this particular engine, gimme a V8 and I'll happily listen to it open headers all day though.

Here's what my engine currently sounds like....

Ok I don’t mean a real truck, just want it to sound a bit louder. I’m 18, just bought my first truck and it’s a new thing for me to modify my truck. Maybe that’s not the best idea. Maybe a flowmaster muffler is the way to go just trying to find a cheap way to do it.

Where are you in WA? I have an extra 18” Magnaflow in the box still, arguably the best sounding muffler for the 3.4L.

I don’t have a muffler. I think it sounds the best out of every exhaust ive ever had. It’s passed every inspection. People will follow me and stop me to ask what exhaust I have.
It’s pretty tame actually. I still have cats and resis. On a 4.0.

I don’t want to go complete straight pipe. I’m thinking of cutting off my muffler and welding in 4-6 in open cylinder in there instead.
