Hey guys and gals! I got an aftermarket bumper and had to sell my stock receiver hitch and all its hardware. Recently I got the aftermarket hitch and apparently it attaches to the gram using the old hitches holes and hardware... I was just curious if anybody out there who knew what size bolts those are because the dealerships don’t sell them and I can’t find them anywhere else. Any help would be much appreciated!

Available at dealer Part # 90119-A0192, maybe with washer. Need 6 or 10 not sure. Maybe $2.50 each

I think I have all of mine. How many bolts do you need? If you're not in a big hurry I could grab them this weekend and send them your way.

For the receiver and the job it does, I wouldn't get anything other than factory hardware.

Considering there are well over a dozen bolts that hold it onto the truck any hardness of bolt will suffice. Look at the diameter of the tow ball at its smallest point and use logical thinking. Its diameter is less than the diameter of 2 bolts.

Good luck on finding out the hardness of the original hardware.

    Here's 1 pictured.

    I see what you're saying.

However, someone smarter than me decided it would be a good idea to use, "this" bolt rather than some off the shelf bolt that you'd typically get at a hardware store.

I agree that most hardware store bolts that have no rating are completely junk (at least that's what I think you wrote, I could be wrong though).

    That's exactly what I'm saying.

You can find graded bolts at home cheapo and a decent hardware store. Selection is minimal most of the time.

One less liability as well should something happen.

    Here's hoping it doesn't.

CAT, Komatsu, and other digger or farm machinery dealers have serious hardware requirements. They can come up with some amazing threaded stuff just about anywhere. CAT parts guys used to say they could get virtually anything in their catalog - "One Safe Source" - within 24 hours. I needed some big Grade 8 capscrews (60) for a job in the Aussie outback - 1-1/4-7UNC x 7 inches long - had them in a day.

I would hate to see the bill on those bolts. There's a reason why they call their color CAT gold.

Yup, I was glad my client agreed to pay. Gold miners have an odd sense of urgency.......... But when the chips are down and the hardware has to have a pedigree - CAT bolts have it.

I'm trying to picture Hayden - I worked for several months on mine construction at Thompson Creek site, east of Stanley. Hard to believe - 40 years have passed.

The bolt is pictured and since there are over a dozen bolts and the fact that the ball is the actual weak link the style of bolt is inconsequential. Standard non-crap hardware is completely fine for the application IMO.

Hayden is in North Idaho, Stanley is around 5 or 6 hours South of here. I will agree that CAT makes some quality fasteners but you're going to pay for them.

Look at the head of the bolt the marks are the hardness the more the number the harder the bolt there is not one shot in hell you'll ever shear a grade 3 bolt on a hitch even if you take a 10 yard head start.

My towns's 3 hardware stores have a pretty complete hardware section for most projects (Ace, True Value and an independent). What I've noticed, though, is that all three lack a good selection of the fine pitch metric sizes in big diameters that Toyota likes using, especially when you have to be selective about grade/tensile strength. McMaster Carr has a great selection of what you need but this is a case I might order the Toyota hardware.
