So I just got a 2012 DCLB TRD Sport last month and the volume button on the steering wheel is sticky like something was spilled on it. Any advice for cleaning this? Can it be removed?

    Thanks!

the 2012 had a different steering wheel than the 08. i was also hoping there would be a way to remove the switches from the steering wheel without pulling the wheel off or pulling the airbag. its just the one volume control as well

I had an Audi where someone must have spilled a soda on half the radio/climate controls. I just sprayed wd40 and pressed the buttons a bunch of times to wiggle them free.

unfortunately you have to remove the air bag to get to the control. each side is held on by 2 Phillips head screws. it's a really easy thing to do. just make sure to disconnect the battery and drain the system buy turning the key on for 5 min or so. the remove the covers on each side of the steering wheel. there are 2 torque screws one on each side. I think they are a t-30 but I can't remember. loosen those but don't take them out. the air bag will pull from the top forward. be carefull not to pull the wires. there are one orange and one black and two plugs that go into the spiral cable unplug the black and orange from the bag and the two from the spiral cable. there is a ground wire one the air bag as well unplug that to. then you can see the 4 screws for the controls
