Stock. Black is preferred. For a stepside bed

Forgive me. I'm new to this. I need a rear bumper. Does the standard bed have the same bumper as the stepside bed?

Not so fast. Look at this:
    https://www.tlsautorecycling.com/search/2001/toyota/tacoma/89990.html

Specifically the back of the bumper. That doesn't look like a normal bumper. At first I thought those end cap things were the only differences. But it does not appear so.

Your right! My bad my buddy had a stepside with a regular bumper but that is totally different.

StepSides use the exact same bumpers as other models.

There's nothing at all 'special' about StepSides in the front.

The only difference is in the StepSide-specific side trim pieces that 'blend' the basic bumper into the StepSide body lines. These are body trim pieces, not part of the bumper.
95-04 Tacoma.jpg From what I read is you can use a normal rear bumper and it just kind of tucks into the rear extention rear/bumper pieces??...you can see on that red truck is has a chrome bumper going into the red trim.

That's what I was thinking as well, but looking at the back of the step side rear bumper on that junkyard listing I linked to seems to show different. The rear of the 'main' bumper has minor differences on the edges, meaning you probably can't just remove the side fascia pieces and tack them onto a regular 'flat' style bumper. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you looking for after market or OEM?

I found nothing so I built mine out of 6"x6" .250 wall tubing. It's not perfect but will be by the end of the summer. Took a Saturday and half of Sunday to build but it's friggin' solid.

... I also spoke to Pelfreybilt. His shop is a few miles from my place. He builds killer stuff but noting for 1st gens.

If you want OEM, as I found in San Diego, that's a hard fine. I literally threw mine in the recycle dumpster at work... there aren't that many around here so selling it was useless.

Go Relentless if those guys are willing to make one.

If it comes out killer, I may buy one too. I think my bumper sucks.

^^ cool, I apologize but I couldn't remember your signature as the only other guy with a step-side plate bumper.

    Thanks for posting.

Looks like a whale tail and a wasted opportunity to gain off road clearance on the corners of the bed.

Haha...it is just an observation. If he wanted it to flow with the body he accomplished that if it is any consolation.
