I have previously had running boards and SOS Concept sliders with steps (ohhhh, such quality) but removed both because my truck is my "everything". I wear a suit to work and when I step out I don't need something rubbing against the rear of my suit pants, especially during winter.

However, I have recently had my mother move in and I need to help her when she needs it. She's 73 and hard-headed at times (or, maybe just good old-school where they worked until they passed), and wants to do everything herself. BUT, I'm trying to get her to take it a bit easier and let me tackle the more difficult things. Sometimes, that means transporting her.

Well, while I am perfectly fine with my truck height, and getting in and out, it's tough to see her struggling to get in and out (remember, I no longer have the running boards or sliders with side steps. I'll make it simple: any recommendations?

Elderly are IMO, are better off without steps. If she can't get into a truck, I'd use something else to transport her.

I've seen 3 people around her age in varying degrees of physical health get hurt by trying to use steps, just completely lost their balance and fell to the ground - 2 broken hips and 1 just cuts, scrapes and bruises.

All my relatives of that age group are deceased, but at some point with all of them they were no longer reasonably able to ride in a truck and needed the low entry that cars provided.

YMMV, this is just my experience.

My wife uses a household type step stool to help her 90+ yr. old mother get into our 4runner, it works great. It is very solid on the ground and can be stored easily in the bed or back seat. Ours is single step but you can get a two step for extra height.
Obviously someone is there to assist her getting in and out of the vehicle.
