I just got new tires and I was hoping that would fix the shaking but it didn't. It starts shaking about 5 minutes in to my drive and doesn't stop until I slow down significantly or stop. Putting it in neutral doesn't help. Braking seems to make it worse at first. I'm pretty sure I need a new brake booster

Steering wheel shake is usually a tire balance problem.

Did the shop that sold you new tires road-force balance them?

    Are you using wheel spacers?

If you're using aftermarket wheels, are you using acorn nuts to center them on the lugs?

Try borrowing another set of wheels and lug nuts from another tacoma owner who's not having a wheel shake problem. If the problem goes away, you know it's somewhere in the combination of your tires, wheels, and lug nuts.

I have stock wheels and I just replaced the tires (discount tire, Bridgestone alenza) and I got the same shake/vibration. Some times it moves from the steering wheel to the cab and my seat shakes. I'm starting to think it is in the drive line...

You have an 06' have you checked your steering rack bushings ? I would bet a cold hard $1 they are toast which means your tie rods are no longer connected to something solid and you can get insane vibes that feel like seriously unbalanced tires. It is a common prob with these trucks, just had to replace mine last year, felt like I had square unbalanced tires on the highway...Energy Suspension makes urethane replacement bushings for it. If your in Phoenix give SDHQ a call and have them check it out for you, they can get the parts and do the work for you too.

I once bought a set of tires that appeared to "take a set" after a drive on the hot road. Then the next morning it felt like they had a small "flat side". After driving, that shaking would warm them up and it would quit. I took them back and had the tire shop check them. Claimed they were made "out of round" and tried some sort of "shaving process." Stupid idea. Took about 1/4" of tread off on one side. Refused to leave with those tires. Moved to a different brand and didn't notice it. Whether that is your problem or not, I can't guess. But it has happened. You can either tolerate it or return to the store and make 'em fix it (without shaving which is still a stupid idea).

...he said he had the shaking before the new tires and the new tires did not solve the problem, now I'm not a bright man but me thinks = problem is not the tires

Only in the morning that means you woke him up too early and he is throwing a fit.

I think that's Bridgestone thing. My two cars did that with Bridgestones, I changed one to Yokohamas and it is gone. My friend has Bridgestones and he gets the same thing in totally different car.
