My 2014 tacoma TRD OR (60k miles) steering wheel shakes when im braking at high speed 65mph. Ran my finger along the rotors, doesnt feel warped and no visible difference along the face but its not a scientific measure I know.

It doesnt shake when Im braking at low speed.

Any ideas for the cause? If it was warped rotors wouldnt I also get a shake a low speed?

I would double check your rotors put a gauge on it and see how much the needle jumps in a full rotation

This - the finger indicator isn't terribly accurate, and it doesn't take a lot of warping to cause some pretty spectacular shuddering.

    Replace the rotors

Try changing your driving habits to keep brake pad deposits from happening

I did bed the pads with my old rotors. I got new rotors coming. Do I still need to rebed the pads if Im installing new rotors?

They will do it by themselves. It's not the pads.

Yes when you replace the rotors they need to be bedded to the pad material.

    I agree.
You are bedding the pads AND the rotors.

    I always bed, every time.
Even when I pad slap one

And I’ve never done rotors with out doing pads.
But then again, Never had a reason to just do rotors.

By the time you stop once or twice the pads are going to be as flat as they get they are softer than the rotor there is a lot of force going on there. Do you really think a brake shop is going to drive your truck around to "bed " the pads? If you have a brake shake the rotors are warped you can have them resurfaced but it's often cheaper to replace them.

Warping ventilated rotors as thick as those on the Tacoma, I submit, is very hard to do/have happen.

You probably don't need new rotors. They can be turned for next to nothing. Mine have been turned twice and I'm still on factory rotors after 15 years and 227,000 miles. I'll need new brakes at around 250,000 miles and the rotors can't be turned a 3rd time so I'll need new ones then. If you've got everything apart put new pads on.

And yes, they need to be seated even if you don't replace the pads.

It is possible that it is just brake dust built up on the rotors. Getting up to 60ish mph and hitting the brakes hard a few times may well clean up the problem. Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to try. This is one of the negatives of driving conservatively.
