Anyone ever had a steering wheel knob on their tacoma? I was thinking with the manual it would be really comfortable. I've driven boats with knobs and liked it. I did look up that they are legal.

Not sure it's legal unless you qualify for Handicapped status

I've heard those referred to as a "suicide spinner". Probably because how easy it would be to over steer or over correct with one.

That said, the lazy part of me has been tempted... You can find the clamp on versions on Amazon for fairly cheap.

I had one on a 3/4 ton '59 Chevy long bed stepside L6 4spd with a granny first.

Back in the day they were called necking knobs. So you could steer the manual non rack/pinion tank with one hand with the other arm around your girl. Or shift if you had a manual trans.

I can tell you this though. It is NOT something you want to use if you drive off road.

I am so tempted because they're so cheap. I'm most worried about the indentation the clamp will make on the wheel.

When we were kids Mr. Jimmy down the street with the hook where a hand had been had a knob on his wheel.

You'd be better off to worry about breaking both hands, or several fingers, if you have that thing in place if you offroad over anything like logs, mudholes, stumps, etc.

Id be more worried about the indentation the steering wheel knob will make on your forehead when you wreck.

    This is turning epic.

    1. how would it indent my forehead if on bottom of steering wheel? Do you think it'd still get anywhere near me with an airbag?

Can you verify the pictured person was injured off-roading in a 2nd gen tacoma with a steering wheel knob?

So you never have to turn your wheel to steer? The knob won't always be at the bottom.

Well, then you're covered. Buy one and throw it on.
