steering wheel jerks to the side when applying brakes

2015 SR5 DCSB 4X4
anyone elses truck do this?
when i am driving down the road, if i have to all of a sudden hit the brakes in a quick instant, my steering wheel will jerk to the right really hard.
anyone else ever have this problem? it seems that the front passenger tire is slowing down quicker that the front driver side tire. causing the wheel to jerk to the left like that. any ABS gurus out there?

 

If your steering wheel is jerking to the right when the brakes are applied...you have a left side brake caliper not functioning properly.

But you're mentioning that it's pulling to the left as well. Is that only when the ABS is engaged? The ABS is a 4-channel system, but I've never heard of channel failing unless a wheel sensor is bad....and that usually disables the whole system. Is your ABS light on?

 

the ABS light is not on. i can not think of anything that would cause this beings that i am not familiar with ABS all that well.

 

Is this a new problem? Have you recently done any work on the driver side wheel area? You could have some sort of lubricant on the disc. Lift and support the front, take off both front wheels and inspect the discs. If nothing looks odd, have a friend apply the brakes and watch each side activate. Spray brake parts cleaner liberally on both discs before putting the wheels back on. If you don't find the problem and the cleaner doesn't fix it, take it to a pro - this is a dangerous problem.

 

i had to bleed the brakes the other day and brake fluid shot all over the place. id be willing to bet that the rotors have brake fluid on them.

 

There's your problem. I'm glad it's an easy one to fix.

 

Always use a hose and some sort of collection bottle/ bag. I use speed bleeders now. Much easier for single person operation and no mess. Plus, when it's time to flush the system, it's super easy.

Could have a caliper ceased halfway down or something causing a difference in brake pressure being applied.
