Started hearing a loud pop when wheel was cranked all the way left. Now it is popping in either direction at really low speeds like in parking lots. Saw a thread about it before but I can't find it.

Eapecially slow or stopped pops should be easy to find. One person stears while another is at ground level looking for the pop. Look at spindle/steering stops

I feel like I remember someone saying something about greasing the steering stop.

I'm sure you already thought of this but on that 1% chance I'll ask anyway.... :) ........

It's not in 4WD is it?

How’s the ball joint looking in your lower control arm?

I had the same popping sound when turning left onto driveways. It went away when I replaced the front sway bar links, outer tie rods, and lower control arms.

Damn, that's a lot. Mine will be taken care of a no charge since I left the dealer and noticed it and they are my friends. However, I would like to know what it is and if it is safe for now. Only happens at low speeds so seems safe? The popping noise is loud and scares the crap out of me sometimes. Especially while backing. A few times I have thought I backed into someone.

Had this happen once on an 80s 4 banger Toyota truck - 2WD - control arm bushings. Will require investigation.

I remember something about a loose lca after an alignment on here too. Not going to be able to get back to the dealer until after the holidays. Wonder if I should get it on a lift somewhere or not worry about it.

Some say loose LCA bolts, some say bushings. I’m convinced it’s the bushings. Mine aren’t seized by any means but I’ve had the reverse/full Steering wheel lock pop since like 70k miles. My LCA bolts are torqued appropriately.

Edit: some threads you’ll see say it’s the brake clunk of the pads setting in place, but it’s definitely not that. I have caliper click/clacking and it’s not near the same as the clunk/popping the LCAs make.

I recently developed the same clunk, it sounds like its somewhere around my driver’s side LCA when turning left at almost full-lock. No sway bar. I am in the process of replacing my outer tie rod ends and lower balljoints so I will post if the clunk goes away when I’m done.
Unfortunately, today I had a major mishap and installed my passenger LBJ upside-down; but I’ll save the info on that for a thread I’m gonna start ASAP.
