I struggled with feeling like this was an "upgrade" because I know it costs less and is found on the economy versions but I'm SO happy I did this! Living in the desert with a dusty truck the rear window being open seemed to kick up tons more dust and I never used it. The only uses I could find for the slider were:

    1) Talking to people riding in the bed of the truck which I rarely do anyway and in that case can use the side window.

    2) Getting something out of my topper which I'll never own since I like the profile of the truck or I would have stuck with my Cruisers.

    3) Hauling something longer than the bed can handle (so what's that like 3.5 feet) which I again take a trailer for in those situations.

On the flip side, this feels like SOOOOO much more window real estate and looks so much cleaner to me. I think with the slider you get 4+ inches less window side to side and 2 inches less top to bottom which isn't nothing.

I love the unobstructed views and I wouldn't think twice about doing it again. I'm sure my insurance company was equally happy with the decision ( :

FINALLY something I can be happy about for my base model :D

For real though, never used the slider I had on my previous truck so I don't miss not having it.

For sure, and I'll be honest, I would be it in easy 150sqin of glass so it makes the truck look so much cleaner in the rear and the window looks right!

Love the look of solid back windows, just dont have an excuse to replace the OEM one I have.

Now if only it did like the Tundras and lowered!

I know!! That would be ideal! Honestly though, I wish I had a moonroof most, the funny thing is I have a big rust spot on my roof right where one would go I just can't justify that kind of money!

8 going on 9 yrs of ownership of my 2013 TRD OR.... never once used the back slider, in fact it has a well fitted wooden dowel put in place so you cant jimmy it open from the outside thats been there since about 3 months after buying it that has never been removed, I even made a nice lil tab to lift it up and out of the track thinking I would use the rear slider, lawls.

It's surprising how many people don't use the slider. I've got that unit open on mine whenever the weather is decent and I'm not hitting the highway.

I don't use my slider. It's one of the only options on my truck, that and buckets.
Replacement rear glass is expensive. I wonder if there is a good quality aftermarket glass out there.
I may also look into a solid rear.

I was spoiled by my Tundra rear glass ....... Soon after buying my '15 Tacoma, I installed an electric motor kit to my Tacoma rear glass. I open my rear glass as often as I roll down my front windows.

Without the electric motor, I likely wouldn't use mine either.

I had an F-150 that had a slider, and never once opened it. Same thing with my 2012 Tacoma. The rear slider has never been opened.

I may have opened mine two or three times since buying the truck.

I'd trade my slider for solid glass so long as it was heated for winter. I do use it though, as a pass through for long items and since I don't have a DC, it's my only rear window that opens.

I used my 4runner's sliding rear glass all the time, but the roof was removable too!

I use mine weekly but only because I motorized it and can open/close it from my driver seat.

It is a bit obtrusive when driving as it does create a slight blind spot.

My alarm key fob died once and I was able to access the truck from the rear slider which was convenient lol

my base model came with a solid rear window and I love it. Very clear views behind and no worries about someone jimmying the rear window.

I had an 06 tundra and loved the solid powered window. Used it almost daily 6 months out of the year. Also love the fact that it had a defroster.

Use my slider occasionally on my dc now but only during summer, when I’m out of town so I don’t have to worry about tweakers and it’s not too dusty. If I had an ac and it was closer I’d probably use it more frequently but having to crawl into the back seat or get out of the truck to use it makes usage pretty infrequent.

Seen the power options, but don’t want to pay to play. Guarantee it would see almost daily use. If given the option I’d prefer powered w/o defrost over defrost w/o power. Honestly should have had both from the factory on the 2.5 gens.

I never found an application specific "kit" for my AC Sport when I did my rear window. In the resto & custom world there are "power window kits" that you "adapt" to your application. Along with literally dozens of "how to's" on TW, it was a comparatively easy "mod" for anyone with "creative" skills and a shop tools. (also pretty cheap)
