Hey everyone, this post is not only to see if anyone has any ideas on what my extra wire is but also on how to wire up a starter kill relay package (8618) to pretty much any DEI alarm with starter kill function to at least function. While most probably don't need it because of chip in key. My 2013 base 2wd does not have that feature. So it would be incredibly easy to steal.

Side note. If you want to add keyless entry now is the time. And if you get a 451M locking module (basically the two relays you need to lock and unlock aftermarket actuators) this task is stupid simple.

The 8618 relay package I got had 5 cables coming off listed below
30 which is Black (Ignition wire to starter or towards ignition switch)
87A which is Black (basically the other side of the cable you cut for 30)
85 which is Orange (goes to the ground when armed on DEI alarm which is also orange universally I believe)
Last but most confusing 86 which has two cables coming out. One is pink the other is yellow.

The pink should be 12V tied to 12V ignition (hot when key turned to ignition/run). And this works. When you arm the system and you turn the ignition, the Pink 12V has a path to ground which will not allow one black wire from the ignition switch to charge the other black wire that now feeds the starter (Starter disable function is in effect). When the system is disarmed and you turn the ignition the Pink 12V has no path to ground which will allow one black wire from the ignition switch to charge the other black wire that now feeds the starter.

So cliff notes. Orange is active ground and Pink is energized 12V from ignition, can't start. Orange is not active ground, and Pink is energized from ignition start.

This all makes perfect sense. However if you go back you will remember our yellow cable. Now you will ask "Hey Matt, read the Freaking Manual!" To which I will reply. "I did?"

The instructions if you can call them that show the yellow going to the DEI Alarm yellow wire which states "(+) ignition Input, Zone 5". I can't seem to get this wire to show me any 12 volt armed or disarmed. Plus if you are already using the Pink which has 12V when ignition is turned on why would you need this yellow? I might have an answer. But I would like confirmation if anyone has experience with these relay systems and DEI alarms.

I think what the yellow is for is if the system is armed (so remember orange is now giving us a path to ground for Pink and if Yellow is connected yellow will become energized) so the Alarm can trip and start deafening if they come through the window (bypassing the motion alarm and door alarm) and try to "turn the key". So in theory not needed but nice to have.

    Any thoughts?

I have a similar problem. I installed the 3100lx and was wondering about the yellow wire, the installation guide is the worst of any kind and is useless. Surched online and viewed a few videos that indicated that it should be connected to the ignition wire. I didn't connect a relay because this alarm is supposed to have an internal relay for starter interupt and they included the two wires to connect to the cut starter wire. I figure that when the alarm is armed the yellow wire will signal the brain to interrupt the starter if you try to start the car. So I armed the alarm and turn the ignition on and the car started and the horn didn't activate. My conclusion is that the internal relay is bad and now I am going to install and wire an external relay and use the orange wire (ground when armed output) and forget about the yellow wire and the internal starter interrupt and the wires they provided. I would like to know if you connected your yellow wire and if it activated your horn after you parked and turned the ignition on?
